Hektic's 250watt revolving SOG w/flip flop

Heya folks! I finally have something post worthy. Anyhow, I have a HUGE closet. Here we go!

The first thing I noticed were the dimensions of my closet which are about 7x9x9. SPACIOUS! I live in an apartment so I must make do with the supplied a/c unit. Which reduces me to a 250.
If I must use a 250, or any wattage for that matter, I am going to make the most of it. So I have built a flip flop box.
I also bought a 48"x20"x72" cab from Lowe's and out fitted it with baffles, weather stripping, etc. The top part houses the carbon filter, electronics, and a small seedling area. While the bottom is divided into two equalish sections. I have started seeds under 2x27watt 4pin cfls I will then move them to one of the two flowering chambers to have a revolving SOG, starting new seedlings every week.

There is your abstract. On to the pictures.

So the first issue was power capacity. My apartment has a 20A breaker hooked up to 1/2 of the outlets and lights in the apartment. Plenty to run a 400 cfm inline fan, 250watt ballast, and two 27watt desk lamps and anything else I might plug into the circuit.

Next was location. I want this to be as discrete as possible, so an unsuspecting person can enter my room, and have no clue there's something more in my closet than clothes. There is an outlet in a wall which is shared with my closet and bedroom. Perfect.

So I cut on the other side of the wall, tapped into the outlet from the backside (inside the closet), and wired my own outlet in the closet!

Alright now...There aren't any A/C vent's in this closet, and I plan to use my apartment A/C to cool my grow. Hmm. So I went to Lowe's, picked out a similar looking A/C vent. And viola!

And the backside

For clarification. Air is taken in from underneath the closed door, in through the cab, then through the carbon filter, then the fan, then out through the vent in the top corner of the room.

Next, the box!

Picture limit!

I finished the flip flop today. Tomorrow its time to get another hood/socket/bulb for the 2nd chamber.

Plants:

1 x Dakini Kush, 2 x Roughneck, 3 x Waipi'o Hapa.

They are about 1 week in. About to send out their 3rd set of leaves.

Ill sprout another 5-6 in another week once I have everything actually finished.

Testing:
I have let the system run for 2 weeks now with the lights on. Temperatures inside the cab only gets to 3-4 degrees Fahrenheit over my apartment temperature. This is with 100 degree days. I have 120mm adjustable flow cpu fans I will install to move the air around the bulbs to help get the hot air out even quicker. That inline moves a lot of air, but the low output just couldn't cut it, 10-12 degree difference vs what I have with the high output fan. The noise is increased, but with blankets and other sound deadening techniques it has become near silent.

Stay tuned folks, you don't want to miss this!

Update

Update

Went and picked up another hortilux hps bulb and a wing hood which fits perfectly inside the left half of my cab. I was testing the flip flop and realized that I need a timer to turn the ballast off/on before each cycle, or else no flop on the flip. Off to lowe's for another timer!

Got the timer, flip flop is flip floppin'.
Time for More pics!
Alright, here is the nearly done cabinet.

The left chamber is taller than the right because I put most of the baffling in the right chamber.

Here is an up close of the left chamber

Right chamber, I need another piece of MDF or plywood to finish the floor baffling. As is, no light can transverse between chambers. Four turns and 3 long runs.

Top chamber

There are three blankets/comforters covering my 6'' 400cfm fan for noise suppression. If you look closely at the roof of the top chamber you can see where I cut up an old mouse pad to use as a dampener where I bolted the fan to the cabinet.

Once I get more money and more smell to worry about, I plan on getting an inline 6" filter. Mainly to kill the sound of the moving air. I almost have too much air exchange occurring. I can afford the cfm drop an extra carbon filter would add. Two carbon filters would give me a lot of peace of mind once this thing is up, running, and producing.

Technical Difficulties

Technical Difficulties

Thanks for pointing that out. Now to figure it out. I can see the pictures, even if I log out of my account. But on another computer, you are right, you can't see the pictures. I don't know how you can do this wrong but apparently I have. I think the auto-re-size didn't work and I need to re-size the pictures manually before I upload them. I'll try that and see what happens.
Thanks again!
