Heat stress

OK so growing in a garage in Florida is not going to go well for you once the temps start to rise...

Anyway, I had a couple of clones in flower for about 10 weeks. The buds were shaping nicely, each clone had 3 colas about the size of two bic lighters and they were starting to pack on a little weight.

Then the heat hit...

It was about two weeks in 95+ degree temps. I was watering every day to keep them hydrated, but it didn't matter. I lost one of the big clones and several smaller clones. The only things that really survived unscathed were my moms (?). I bought a room A/C unit and now have temps around 78 deg 24/7.

The question I have is: the one clone that survived is now thriving again, but it has started to stretch and put out a shitload of new caylxes with fresh white hairs. Has the plant started it's flower cycle again? There is no frost on the new leaves or areas of growth. I am really confused on the timing of where I am in this plants flowering cycle. I'm gonna let it go and see what happens, but I would like to hear if anyone else has heat stressed a plant to the point where it just "started over" in flowering? Oh, and I have gone over every millimeter of this girl looking for bananas, and I didn't see any (yet). If there aren't any yet, and conditions are now optimal, I doubt it's gonna hermi now.

Thanks for looking and thanks in advance for your opinions!

Were the mother plants in bigger pots? if so, maybe this is why they survived. soil in a bigger container takes longer to heat up and will help to keep the roots and plant cooler. :joint:

and to answer your question....if the timing of the lights was not affected then your plants should be on the same schedule they were before. The stretching is probably just due to the heat stress. :rasta:

SlowCalaToker.....I just moved from Fla. last Aug. & have not regretted it since. Live in the mountains now, way North of you. Though Fla. is home you know it's not what it used to be. I got one Sativa right now in a closet grow with a 400w HPS. This is a new & exciting experience! But.....the heat thing is a question I posed this morning on another thread. HEAT IS YOUR ENEMY. Good move to buy the A/C. You'll need it down there. I've been watering every other day since she's been flowering and she seems to like it. Just listen to your plant(s) they'll tell you the whole story! Best of Luck Bro.!

Your girl is lookin good there, snook. I would love to move to the mountains, but the wife is a Florida girl thru-and-thru. She doesn't do well in temps below 30! I have a neat little box with a 150w HPS and two 42w CFL's. Now that I've got the temp issues settled I'm hoping to get a mini-SOG going. I've been trying for two months and have screwed up every possible way! This is the second-best hobby I have ever attempted (playing guitar is the first, but not by much)

Good luck with your grow!

I don't know how you FL people handle it.....I was out working the fields(I run a small farm too, ya know - veggies), and it was 80F and I was dying. I'm going back to N. MI after this year!

I was planning on doing a trashcan scrog out in the back yard just to play around. I still might get around to it if I can spare a couple clones from the sog. I better get started on it though, the screens need some time to fill up.
