heat issues

Halo,

long time reader, now time to make my first post. Wish it had a more positive undertone, but it is what it is...

Heat problems: I started my grow with a 1 square meter growbox from homebox.

Everything had been going fine, and then I decided to go ahead and change my hps from 400 to 600watt output.

Next thing I new my room was at 33degrees C and above...No good and some plants started to show signs of heat stress and even burned leaves. So an order was made for a 430kuub exhaust fan (was running a 300kuub one) with a matching odour sock.

Day after installed it all, temp still gets up to 30degreesC. I have a big oscillating fan opposite of my intake, and a small fan aimed directly at my hps, which is hanging under my adjust-a-wing. Lights at 65+cm!

So decided to hook-up my old exhaust fan to the intake for more fresh air, and now it gets down to 27C, still two degrees hotter then I would like (running Venom OG and P.C.K., both with kush influences and they really dislike heat). And the exhaust fan is running at 100procent the whole time(hooked up to a thermostat set at 24C). Also, the roots of the plants never get over 21C because of the big amount of fresh air coming in...

So my ballast is a dimmable 600-400watt lumatek. It has been acting up, shutting down at random, so I had to replace it again with my 400watt ballast. Now, with the intake fan installed, I can hang the light as close as 20cent without the temp going over 25C.

In two days I will get my replacement lumatek, and was wondering if maybe the previous one was faulty making the hps run a lot hotter then it was supposed to?

Or any other ideas how I might get my temps even more down would be great... :tiphat:

One thing I did (1000watt flex wings) is put an extra fan (same used for air filter) and point it straight at the lights. It blows the heat away from the lights and keeps it a little cooler.
