Heat issue

I have a room in the basement that is 10' x 15' x 10' .. Temps are really cool down there. At around 60 F!, if i have 4 x 1000 Watt HPS lights and CO2 running will it get too hot? I was hoping i could have a sealed room so I don't have to vent out my CO2 all the time. I Didn't want air cooled lights cause i wanted Bat Wing type reflectors which can't be aircooled. Will I be ok, or should I get the idea out of my head that i will be ok with that.

well you need to vent the air out anywway, you need fresh air coming in at all times...i would never have a room without exhaust.....just turn off exhaust while having C02 running...why exactly do you "want" to use the bat r\wing type? because you already have them?(thats what my reasoning was, lol) cause there is really no advantage of a bat wing over an air cooled.... BUT...one thing that will really help with temps..is just buy those industrial fans, like a Patton....and i put them right below the light almost and shoot them facing the light...keeping the heat upwards so the exhaust can expell all the hot air....but thats not always an option, i understand... i've done a room that stayed at 60-62 during night time, and with 5k watts running WITH exhaust, temps rose upwards to 96 degrees...and the room was bigger than yours...

i have a 21x16 room...and during veg currently i run 3k watts worth of light...and the room sits at about 78/80 degrees...with "mild" a/c, but with fans and exhaust on at all time...and thats just 3k and a room bigger than what yours looking to do....you will more than likely need a portable A/C unit or run your house A/C all day...

I figure you could use 6kw in an area that size if you really want to max it out. That would take about 2 tons a/c to keep it cool. If you got all the spendy toys to keep your env. correct, you shouldn't have to vent the room very often. What kind of system do you want to use?

why do I Need to have fresh air ? if i have a CO2 in my room I should be ok if temps where to be ok...thats the impression I was under.

I want to use batwings because I like the adjust a wing reflectors... instead of reflecting light downwards in a rectangle shape. i would like the light spread out over a bigger footprint and bring it a little bit closer to the tops... and thats possible with the adjust a wings... i would be able to cover a 6' x '6 area. Im not sure if youv heard of the adjust a wing reflectors, they make some really good scientific points. I could post a link if you havn't seen them around. So yah... I just want to make things as efficient as possible so if you know a better product or way let me know and we can discuss that...but yah i would like to go with vented hoods, but the glass allone takes out like 10% of the light or something like that right?

also what is AC ?

I want to do multi flow buckets... like 36 of them they are ebb n flow but with buckts

You don't need "fresh" air if you're running CO2 and controlling the temps...the reason people vent non-CO2 enriched rooms is to replenish the CO2 levels that are depleted by the plants or to cool the area down.

In addition, you'll need higher temps to take full advantage of CO2...around 85-90 is pretty optimal without risking heat stress problems.

Dunno what your temps are gonna be like in a couple of months, but you'll need to keep the res or control bucket in the lower 70's/upper 60's for maximum DO levels without stressing the plants.

You'll probably be better off with a 4x4 or 5x5 footprint for the 1k's though...at 6x6 you're gonna get a pretty fair amount of popcorn buds if you're growing bushes.

Only way to actually know is to do a dry run for a few days though...that way you don't run into surprises later on.

If you want a good open hood forget the batwings and look into vertizontals which are 4 ft octagonal hoods, great for flowering. If you are running 4K you are going to need air conditioning down there,no way 60 degrees is going to keep 4K cool enough

Those are the ones, they are great for flower. The thing to remember about hoods is it's all in the depth. For the veg stage I like a deep hood which tends to concentrate the light straight downward, these are great in veg when the plants arent as spread out.For flower the vert. is fantastic,it spreads the light out to a wider area,I have 3 in an 8 by 8 room it's quite a groovey thing!
