Heard conflicting things, set me straight

I want to use a strong soil from the get go, probably Fox Farms Ocean Forest. Can I germ, then right to it? Some people have said it is too strong for a seedling and others claim they grow in it start to finish. What is the real deal?? Thanks

You shouldnt have any problems with the soil being too hot, you could perhaps add 20-30% perlite to it out the bag.

Thanks guys. Thats what I wanted to hear Sack. Do you also use perlite such as Veda or just FF OF straight up? I heard it drains well already.

no, it does not drain that well, IMHO. it's actually quite heavy outta' the bag... most-def add your desired ammount of perlite mixed in there and you'll be set. 'tis what i've done for a while now... germ'd in rapid rooters, though, but they were transplanted immediately into FF OF during seedling stage and lived very well. no burns or nothin' the entire baby stage/the most fragile stage!

peace and g'luck!

In 6" deep pots I use 1/4 perlite to 3/4 ff of. Holds moisture well and drains well when watering.

Jus add 1 bag of perlite to 1 bag of O.F. soil and pop your seeds right in they'll love it. You'll have to water more often but, the more you have to water just means the more air your roots will be getting and in turn the more the plants will transpire ( when they get bigger ). The same reason hydro works so well...(imo) good luck !
