Heads of Cola's Dry/Hard?

I was wondering if this is common in certain strains or if it is from certain conditions? I have a plant in my room that has been flowering for 8 weeks now and has super tight buds. But about 2 weeks ago the plant started to turn purple and as this happened the tips of some of the cola's started to get dry/hard/crusty. I dont know if this is because of the 1000 w hps doing its work or mayber even temp/humidity. Ever since this happened the top part where it was dry didnt produce any more hair growth but did fatten up. A couple days ago it did pruduce some new pistils growing out of it.

Strain- Bagseed, Longer flowering strain I know. Beautiful plant.

If any one has gone through any thing like this any help or input would be appreciated. Ill try to get pics up soon.

Could be that the light sorta burnt the top of that plant. How far is your light from the tops?

My temperature is around 75-80 degree's during the day and around 65 at night. Sometimes drops to 60 depending on the weather outside. Humidity most of the time around 50% on rainy days gets to 75 max but only for a short period of time. I thought that but it isnt on the main cola, only on 2 of the second node from the top cola's. (Make sense?) Plus no other signs of heat problems. It is the plant between my 2 1000w lights. I have a 1000w MH and a 1000w hps. Maybe its getting the best of both worlds and is just loving it? I dont think it is a bad thing because after 2 weeks it hasnt gotten any worse.

Even with out it spreding? Its been the same way for 2 weeks and finally had new growth on it. When it turned hard as it is, it also turned purple. Im thinking it might be because of the temperature?
