The bud on the left is the top. I believe there are 3 different plants in the pic. One plant out of 6 was left untopped for comparison. There are clearly 2 pheno's, the indica and sativa. Theres quite a difference in smell also. The sativas have a very sweet, floral smell, while the indicas seem to smell like licorice.
I've sampled the indica pheno and its a very strong high, fantastic mix of head and body high. I can't wait to sample the sativa pheno.
The smell of these changed a few times during flower. Started with an awesome floral scent, then in late flowering, it changed to an almost licorice aroma.
They've been curing for a few weeks now and I cracked a jar last night. The floral scent is back. Its a fairly light scent til you break it up, then it simply fills the whole room.
This is one of the best smokes I've ever had. A near perfect blending of sativa/indica. There seems to be no limit to how high you can get on this. 2-3 hits gives me a great buzz, a few more, and I can feel the boosters begin to kick in. A little more and I reach stratospheric heights. Its amazing just how far you can go with this one before the couchlock begins to take hold.
Sadly, I had only 10 seeds, and used them all. From what I've been able to dig up, there weren't many of these beans created. On the bright side, 2 plants did a slight hermie thing. I only found 3 flowers, too late, and I have collected a few seeds, maybe 2 dozen total. I'll just have to grow these out, take some cuttings and see if I can get past the hermie issue. If not, I'll deal with a few seeds if it means keeping this cross around.
I'll shoot some bud shots this week end. On some of the bigger buds, the trichs turned red and purple.
I scored these seeds on auction at JRS before the demise. KrazyKen got the Hawaiian Punch from the creator. He then crossed it with several different strains. When I checked back with him, he told me the creator had disappeared, and he had, sadly, depleted his supply of seeds. The HP was made over a period of years, crossing different Hawaiian strains til he hit what he thought, was the perfect mix. I'd say he did a hell of a job, and adding the NL#5 to the mix seemed to be the icing on the cake.
I give it 3 thumbs up.
