Hey all,
Having some issues when my carbon filtered, thermostatic controlled exhaust fan is not on. I'm getting back pressure from the room to the outside...simple heat exchange...warm room, cold outside, warm air wants out. Understandable, but it STINKS!!
I think it's just leaking out of the intakes.
If I know someone is stopping by I can turn on the exhaust fan on low to create air flow through the filter. Which obviously also creates air movement through the intakes in the right direction.
Problem number one with that...it's too cold outside to keep that up for very long. The room gets out of proper temp range pretty quickly with the fan just on, especially with lights off.
I have 3 different air intakes. All with back draft dampers (which obviously only work so so). I tried taping one of the intakes shut to reduce the air coming in while running the fan...no luck. Too cold, too quick.
Air intakes are coming in from outside. Venting into a larger interior structure. Air flow noise caused me to go "the wrong way" with my exhaust. It's causing problems...but that's another post...
Just trying to give as much pertinent information up front.
Any ideas for fixing my problem would be appreciated. If you need further info just ask...I'll be checking in periodically.
Look forward to some good ideas.
Thanks in advance
KG
