Having some heat issues...of course

Hello ICMAG!

SublimeSunrise here! Well I come to you guys today with some heat issues, probably the most encountered issue in indoor growing. I can't seem to beat it! So first off I have grown in my walk in closet which has no exhaust, i had alot of heat issues in there as well but this time i moved my tent to the room in my basement with the ac unit, water heater and all that good stuff. I have a 600 watt mh/hps magnetic ballast with an Apollo tent its the 4x2 one that's super short, I've got an 440cfm inline fan as well as 2 clip on fans inside the tent as well as a cool hood with a 4 inch fan in it which is blowing through the light out the other side and then the other end is pointed through the door into the rest of the basement. It gets up to 86 degrees Fahrenheit in the tent, earlier the humidity inside the tent was at 40%. The air circulation goes like this, Air is sucked through the screens on the tent into the carbon filter through a duct and out of the inline fan which is on top of the tent pointed at the door. There's a duct that goes from the ac unit to an air vent which blows into the room on the other side of the wall that the tent is on. I'm sure I could do something with that I just don't know what. ANY suggestions would help

also! I planned on doing the box fan copper coil ice water bucket homemade ac thing. If you guys think this is a good idea or have seen it work let me know! Sorry for this being presented poorly my phone is very frustrating.

Hi SS1, whats the ambient temp in the basement when its 86 in the tent?

I notice you say youre only using the flaps for air in - I think that might not be sufficient to create good airflow mate... I use the 15 inch duct holes at the bottom and have them open on both sides to draw air...my first suggestion would be to try n open it all up a bit while still maintaining neg pressure... next I would try to put the exhaust fan outside the room or away from the tent if possible as exhausting into the same room (even if pointed out the door) is heating the ambient temp, which is the air your plants are using, or add more duct to the fan on the "out" side so you can dump it further away/in another room/outside...

after that I suggest proper insulated ducting all round (I use the stuff with layers of fiberglass in it).. as it helps keep the ambient temp down - the hot air moving through the ducts often heats them enough that they act like little radiators, which in turn heats your room/area/tent...

p.s 86f isn't the end of the world (that happens at around at around 91/92f lol) but it's not ideal and you don't want it getting any warmer than it is really...

The ambient temp is about 71 when the tent is off. I don't think its heating the entire room up because I just moved it into the main part of the basement and once again its getting up to 86 degrees. There's no way. I've got the thermometer about 8 inches away from the glass suspended in the air with the fans blowing around i . If I were to put it back in my closet (in my bedroom which is also in the basement). Join the hood fan and the 440 cfm fan duct together and then duct it out of the closet into the main part of the basement would my heat problem dissapear?

Wait is by light air coolable and your not venting the heat out through ducting? Maybe I misread.
Also the carbon filter and exhaust fan are at thebtopnof the tent right?

I am venting the heat out. I have a carbon filter with a 440 cfm fan attached as well as a cool hood with a 4 inch fan. But its not being exhausted anywhere just out of the tent. But the temperature for some reason is very high in the tent. I've got the carbon filter sitting on the floor in the tent since heat rises would it be a better idea to raise it up?

Make sure the light is sealed up real well and make all lengths of ventilation as short as physically possible for efficiency. I'd hang the fan and carbon filter from the ceiling. Also make sure to vent the light and the exhaust away from the intake. Thus tubing can be as long as you need
