Good Day All!

I am Hatch reporting in from Crimson Tide HQ, got Ms. Dash, and Bear here holding down the fort . It is a beautiful sunny day in Northern California, sitting under some loquat trees---eating some chilaquiles.

Welcome, plan to post updates about my garden both indoors and out here, as well as host general conversation with any fun, respectful people that find their way here.

Not self-promoting or advertising anything here, I'm a legal prop-215 grower for my own personal needs and wants.

I use organic and simple approaches to gardening. I host worms, compost bins, leaf towers, and various beneficial crops to aid my vegetable, fruit and cannabis growing ventures.

Learning as I go, been growing marijuana for a decade now...I am still a new guy, but the more I learn the better able I'm to learn/understand more.

Let's get on to what's going on!

Next Up:

Black Cherry Soda via single bag seed from dispensary's 8th I bought. 2nd outdoor year with it. Bushy, multi-branched, strong-easy growing plants. Razored leafed, indoor usually take 10 weeks from first flowering signs (so about12 weeks of 12/12). She turns purple and orange come harvest.

Collecting up soil from my pots, all mounded on a tarp for now. It's awaiting some additions to replenish and diversify it.
On my shopping list so far:

soil needs:
Greensand
Powdered Oyster Shell
Gypsum

Fertilizer needs:
kelp
alfalfa
fish hydrolysate

What else would you add to my soil: have 15cuft promix/compost/perlite/ewc that was mixed up last year for this current growing season.

Adding in addition to soil shopping list above:
5 cuft compost-well aged & ready to go
2 5 gallon buckets Earth worm castings- more in a couple weeks after next bin is harvested
1 5 G bucket well composted leafs

Want to add in some more drainage: Rice hulls and lava rocks were on my mind.

I can add more compost in the spring. Have bins ready to gobble up all my vegetable plants when they're spent, plus have several beds/areas full of cover crops:
Clover
Alfalfa
Buckwheat
Fava
Peas
Vetch
Magnus

All that will be turned and ready in the spring.

Going to keep this soil going and build upon it every year. Long term building blocks for healthy thriving soil---what do you have in mind? Off to surf the organic threads for some insight.

Indoor is all under a 6 bulb 4' t5 fixture.
Seedlings & 2 clones are in 3" round or 4" squares with fresh/new pro-mix in them.
Room is between 70-80*F. Several fans and good blinds are helping me make that happen.

Cleaned and put together the frame to my grow tent yesterday- 6'x6'x8'. Going to clean and repair a couple minor holes on the cover & floor tray tonight. Won't need it for couple months, but it'll be ready to go when I do need it.

Have variety of lights to use in it: 400w MH/HPS & 2 1000w MH/HPS.

Indoor goals:

Find keepers for my stable--the BCS is all alone right now.

Make seeds of what I have-not crosses-just produce more of the same genetics to be able to test/grow more of same strain.

Have fun & be among happy plants.

I know how to spend an afternoon...tearing up paper for worms. 4x five gallon buckets packed full=two weeks of paper. Now to go pick up a truck load of coffee grounds and mushroom trimming/bedding.

Somethings I want to talk about coming up:

-Worm weed...what was growing out of my worms last spring?
Story on post #12

-Jump starting my grow with some clones from local source. Has a high CBD strain, master kush and a grapey GDP.

-Beer Camp & Brews of the fall {I brew bier, especially during the winter months} Sierra Nevada's Flipside is back (red ipa).
****SEE POST #13****

-Seeds that'll be grown soon.
****see post #10****

Currently listening to mix of Black Keys, White stripes, National, bob dylan, and the shins.

Gooble Gooble!!

Good Morning!

Thanks for checking in.

Brewing the morning soup...I mean coffee. Used to be in the coffee trade, still receive samples of new offerings...right now checking out some new African offerings & have some dry-processed Guatemala (which is normally water processed, but to save money/water people are teaching farmers the dry process technique). Light roasted, french press brewed, love it when it gets "drinking temp"...warmly hot but gulp able. When I find it more flavorful and showing its fullest profile.

Tea day for the plants outside.
In 10 G of dechlorinated h20:
1 c EWC
1 c topsoil
some alfalfa, kelp, ground coriander, garlic clove
Let sit for two days. I dilute out to fifty gallons, enough to cover all beds/containers. Do so weekly. Otherwise using the buckets to dechlorinate for waterings... don't want to kill the microbes in the soil.

First patch of tomatoes are about done, two more patches still in production. Favorite varieties of the year:
Wapsipinicon Peach
Hssiao His Hung Shih
Egg Yolk
Tigerella
Black from Tula
Golden Jubilee

Wow had a thing for yellow/orange ones this year. Well one egg yolk was a mutant, stayed green with a ruby-orange bottom. Super sweet, balanced, and thin skinned. Saved seeds, going to grow a whole bed next year to find same plants/tomatoes.

Chiles are rolling in. Thai, Indian, arbol, pablano, pasilla, trinidad scorpion, chocolate habanero, burmese. Already have strands of thai & pasilla hanging.

Worm Weed:

So last spring when I went to feed the worms and harvest some castings, I found three sprouts coming out of the pile. They were marijuana sprouts, so I transplanted them into 4" pots, 2 turned out male & were killed. One was female and is currently flowering outside. She smells super fruity-orange, citrus, berry. Sativa growth pattern, but started flowering at a decent time. Unlike the haze which are just starting to tighten up.

Wanted to mix it up and spread the good word! The chiles will be moved back indoors after their outdoor season. It was some 2nd or 3rd season outdoors. Trim them back, transplant them, bring inside until next june.

Thank you for swinging thru :woohoo:

Cool shit hatch, bcs has some interesting 3 bladed leaves. That worm weed sounds pretty tasty. Can you tell us more about the grapefruit from your friend.

You should use fish hydrolysate not emulsion. Way better stuff.

Yes hydrolysate, always have called it emulsion--shouldn't be lazy like that...usually make homemade, but nice to have bottle back-up if not fishing.

Yes BCS has some fun leaves, really tightly noded/branched, then blows up at flower.

Worm weed- it has some lower branching, but mostly is just one long main cola.

Grapefruit is friends cross:

(Afghani x NL#5) x afgahni ---> short fast flowering great smell. He's coastal, so it is well suited to his area. Ran it inside before, first time with it outdoors---have two out there right now. They don't show much genetic diversity, have bunch of seeds starting right now, so we'll all see the pheno's that it shows.

Thanks for dropping in
