hi there Roadrash i was looking at ashtanga yoga yesterday in my local town as i need too chill out for a bit i have been doing jiu jitsu and iaido for a while now and feel like a change
krav maga is excellent have you seen roy elghanayan do his stuff
Very appropriate that you guys are mentioning the martial arts.
That is exactly how I got started in stretching originally, then stretching as yoga in the 1990's.
I remember the black belts kneeling on the edge of the mat, doing wrist-stretches. It was like, "what the heck are they doing ?" I joined them, and found that it was addictive.
One of the Japanese term for 'falling skills' (stretching and rolls) is "Ukemi".
ha ha not a chance .. the only way I could do a lot of them positions is with painkillers and help....I will stick with kayaking and hiking for my excersize... the chart would look a lot better if a woman was doing it ...just sayin

women that can do that are prob amazing at a bunch of stuff...lol I aint sayin any more.... there was a yoga studio right by my old pad in the city...lots of babes and yoga mats going by...I wake up have a smoke at the lake and go kayaking ,or the river if I am lazy...best way to start day...if I tried half that chart that would be the start and end of my day....trout aint that flexible
I've been doing Ashtanga for about 10 years now - it's the only reason that I can still move. Backbends and neckstands don't work for me with my cervical and lumbar damage, but the rest of it is amazingly effective.
Like you guys I started with judo and kung fu in my youth, and when I started doing yoga I was amazed to find that many of the stretches are the same as yoga postures.
haven't done any martial arts since I was like 20,, long time ago.... I do basic stretches but nothing fancy... I thought about trying it in the city when I lived there ,but didn't want hotties laughing at me ....lol
