Hashish high vs. weed high....any difference?

By no means am I a hash connoisseur, but I will smoke it over pot more often than not when available. It seems to gives me a different(in my case more "clear") high than when I smoke the herb in natural form. Am I making this up, is there a reason it seems to give a different high? Someone recently told me the difference is caused by the lack of leaf "veg matter" not present in hash that contributes to the overall high of weed. Please enlighten....thanks

That would make sense just like the high from vaporization is different than smoking. The vegetable matter is taken out of the equation. The difference is quite noticeable.

Hey Cal & Bionic, u guys are both essentially talking about changing the ratios & amounts of the main cannabinoids (thc, cbd, cbn). This will definitely make an impact on the type of high that ur feeling. Thc, cbd, & cbn are measured in percentages of the total weight of the sample. So, when measuring those cannabinoids in bud, the weight of any vegetation is taken into account. With hash, the vegetation has been removed & you will see much higher numbers/percentages (deepending on the method used) of cannabinoids. With vaporizing, depending on the temp set, u are prob not combusting all cannabinoids. Hope that helped!

yeah, I don't think it has to do with cannabinoid ratios at all. it's probably from burning terpenes found in the leaves and vegetable matter that are not present in the trichomes.
it might be the a-pinene

sometimes I like hash sometimes I like weed...

My ISO oil is nearly tasteless, but I've got it so it's pretty refined and ridiculously potent. The high comes on much faster and requires only 1-2 vape hits to get VERY high. Some of my heavy smoker friends have tried 3-5 hits and literally had trouble walking straight.

Lately I've been using the oil to make medibles, you can't taste the oil but it does leave that sorta "hashy film" on your tongue still, so you can taste that. 2 bites of my banana bread and you better not be busy for the afternoon! :)

In Portugal 95% of what I smoked was marrocan hash and after moving to Canada and almost exclusively smoking weed here I can definately tell you from my experience that the weed I usually get in Canada leaves me with a much more cerebral high than the hash back home. The hash gives me more of a body stone.

Peace TT

Interesting thread here....

Having made quite a quantity of hash, dry, water, ISO oil, as well as smoking the ganja I used to make, during my last trip in nepal, I definetly noticed a huge difference in the high of the products...

I am not sure I would be able to define the changes as it seems to vary from one batch to another.

Surely, oil seem to give less body stone, and a really up high, with any weed.
It also give me intense body feeling during the smoke, i just feel some kind of tickling going up in my body. But this could be just an intense toke of THC.

On the other hand, one batch of ice o lator ended up having a very very very clear high(never seen that before), the one that would wake your brain up at any time. The herb used had a nice up/euphoric high, but not as clear...

Also, I'm not sure if it depends on dosage, but I felt that both water hash or oil would lower the euphoric side of the high, giving a bit more of a psychedelic trip, brain enhancing.
Still one batch of oil I made was also really really euphoric, from dry sieve. ???

I think that there is some terpens contained in the "green" that obviously won't go into hash, and moreover with waterhash you even loose some of the terpens from the trichomes with dissolution.
But it seems to be very hard to draw conclusion on the difference between the high of the raw herb to the hash, it clearly depends on the strains.
It could be that some strain will have a lot of terpens contained in leaf and plant material, that won't get to the hash, altering the original high. But it is not easy to quantify...

hope it helped

Hash made of the same weed you're comparing it to? Should be the same harvest. Otherwise it's pointless apples to oranges in my opinion.

I m talking about at least 4 different batches, of course i smoke the ganja as well as the hash from it.

fun thread.

hash definitely seems to capture the up portion of the high.

i think hash from sativas is similar to smoking sativa buds. hash from indicas is like smoking a sativa version of that indica.

i think it does have to do with the cannabinoid ratios, but more like the ratio of thc to cbd and cbn than the ratio of all cannabinoids to plant matter and other constituents.

Im completely diferant, All the bubble I make puts me out extremely couch lock stuff. Most of the cannabis I covert and apply any heat source like oil or eatables seems to make it more of a sedative for me.

In the 1970's in U.S.A hash came from indica areas and bud was sativa . After being on I.C. for a while I figured out why I preferred bud when I was young. I felt back then that hash felt more like being drunk and bud was more a psychedelic. Nowadays I like sleepy weed . I want to add that if I compare bud to oil made from bud from the same plant , the oil is more of a clear high ,as in I think more clearly.

I get a slightly noticeable allergic effect when smoking bud, like a pressure in my sinuses. That is the only real difference between hash and bud, to me. You'd have to try some bud and some hash from the same plant to really have a good comparison.

Hash for me (made from trim with quick soak in everclear) is way more body high and very clear in the head with a euphoric rush. Feels much cleaner than smoking the bud, and since you are not incinerating plant matter there is not nearly the amount of smoke related toxins being produced like carbon monoxide and such just mostly the pure volatile oils being inhaled when heated up to the point of combustion. Gonna go smoke me some right now actually! :joint:

From my lil expericence I'd like to also say that hash made from strains with more sativa/up high is more dreamy and stony than when smoked as bud, sometimes borderline mushroomy/trippy, but in a mellow calm way. This one cut of jack herer made some of my buddies more than little anxious and maybe me too, but processed to oil or drysift (or both combined ideally :) ) these negative aspects pretty much disappeared.

With indicas generally, yeah more clear high but lots of body stone.

I kinda feel that it realy depends on my mood and/or time of day that is to say its fairly subjective to describe the way a substance does or does not make you feel. But I like realy nice powerful sativa in the morning usualy flowers not concentrates becouse I usualy have stuff to do and even if the hash be it bubble BHO or dry sift is made with sativas it usualy will space me out to much for my needs (in the morning) that being said the rest of my day that involves a little less motor function I much prefer hash in all shapes and forms if its made well with nice material I dont care if you bounced it on a screen or shot tane through it hash is the most sacred substance known to man or beyond.Just not first thing in the morning. For me.Unless its Saturday.
