Has Anyone used the Grostar Parabolic Reflector?

Just trying to get opinions really. I have read all the physics mumbo jumbo and seems like the way forward. Apart from the price of course everything seems to be great. I will be using it in my dr120 tent. Any opinions or experiences would be great.

So they say. It has an even light spread of 1.5 m² from the 42" shade. Which is 108cm and should fir nicely in my dr120. It takes between 600 - 1000 watt bulbs.

so apart from the price I see no reason why it would not be a good idea.

If you want a good inexpensive parabolic go with the vertizontal. That looks like a parabolic thats been run over by a car

I have heard good things but never used them personally. I like that new vert hood that krunchbubble is using. I think its called Luxor or something along those lines

I am already using a standard parabolic shade. I am more than happy with it. It has increased the standard and yield in my tent impressively. Which cost me about £35. I want to see if I can maximise what my tent can do bit by bit. I have gone through normal reflectors and cooltubes. Now I can regulate the temp easily I would like to maximise the light reflection. This seems one way to do it.

Anyway, one thing at a time

personaly i wouldn't buy it ,,i cant see any reason why its priced at £189 ,,u can buy a standard parabolic reflector for £39 off ebay ,,so for adding a few bends grostar want to charge an extra £150 ,,rip off

Hi f-nutz im in exactly same position as you my friend just a year on.

Im running 2x sun kings (parabolic reflector) at the min and im happy with the results but like you said i want to be able maximise my light reflection output.

The grostars are expensive but once you have them thats it no more upgrading nothing better on the market imho. Iv not even had my sun kings that long really, wish i went with the grostar first off but i was put off by the price. After a bit of thinking, i think the grostars will pay for themself over time plus one of my boys wants to buy my sun kings once i upgrade (so not lost any money on them)

Only disadvantages i see are
*price
*1 peace reflector over 1m wide hard to transport / deliver
*parabolic reflectors can be a nightmare to work under if hight is a problem

So f-nutz how are you finding them grostars, still using them, notice any difference to the parabols?

I have used the grostar for years, and its worth every cent, only problem with it is it takes quite alot of your headroom, but the lightspread on it is just fantastic

I have 2 of the normal white parabolic you have too, and I think there is a difference, I consistently yield more under the grostar, but i havent done a side by side clone grow so its not a scientific fact ;)

a Kia will get you from A to B without a problem, but a Rolls Royce will give you a better more comfortable ride

I switch to vert bulb parabolics this last year where i could run open ublb
and I'm very pleased with their perfomence.
I'd like to see any side by side runs with the grostar para's to see if they're worth the extra cost.
i saw them for the 1st time a few months ago looking at MM's canadian gro sites.
if anything they look neat as shite :D

the cost tho is prohibitive, not to mention the friggin 20% VAT tax tacked on in europe :jerkit:
it would have to really kick major butt over the $46 i paid for my 4ft para's

I 2nd a side by side , preferably a 600 side by side . Been thinking getting that newer Philips double ended bul setup . gavita or the e-papillon. I'm not one to run out an spend money, been reviewing options. Think e-papillon may be my path. Done very well with parabolics . Mm was the same who brought the grostars to my attention.

Gnome , what do u run with your parabolics . 600's or 1000's , multiple parabolics ? Hydronic soil coco?

i run 1000w in my para's.
i have 6 but been running 2 but
the new 14x20 sealed bloom room is ready now so all six are in there now and today and tomorrow plants finally start going in :)
i run soil but want to move into coco in the next run

other than this thread i haven't seen squat on the gro star hoods,
might have to find a euro weed site.
Ive emailed and pm'd MM about the grostar's but no reply.
if anyone here had a handle how the perform its him

My friend Wan is using a Grostar as when your a 420 member Grostar means God over there. lol. But I have used one and you do get great results, but as said they take a lot of head room, but due to how cool the bulbs run as vertical you can grow your colas so far into them. I only sold mine as it was a bit of a pain in the ass to hang as sharp corners and edges, and it takes a lot of head room. Here's a few pics courtesy of Wan https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=274101
