Harvesting Seeds? Germ Rates?

I harvest some seeds of a few plants about 3 weeks ago and i was wondering how long until germ rates will be high? Tired starting some of them and none of them popped?

I typically let the fresh seeds stay at room temp for 3 or 4 days and make sure there's no plant material on them. then store them in tinfoil a glass sealable jar with dry white rice and place them in the fridge. after 6 weeks or so in the fridge, the germ rate is 100%.

I harvested my last batch of seed in late October, cured the plants whole after a light trim and deseeded once the flowers were dry. Those seeds were stored in carboard jewellry boxes to dry further and then packaged , labelled and stored in the fridge in beginning of January. Pulled some out on the full moon the other day and 30 hours later they popped vigorous seedlings. 100%germination and are already above the soil and doing their thing.

My guess is genetics.

I popped seeds recently from a plant that was yet to be chopped.

Yet the fresh thunk x white rhino seeds are slow to pop.

Best bet is dry the seeds in the buds a few weeks and separate.

Dry a couple weeks then go from there.

Time to seedling is a balance of vigor and hull strength. Some hulls are so strong it's almost impossible for them to crack open. Some genetics are so strong, I doubt any shell could contain them.

I have seeds which have popped the surface in under 24hrs, others which take a week at least.

By the time they start falling out o their own they should pop. If you harvest while they are still on the plants you should dry them. I save silica packs from stuff I buy (those little bags that say "do not eat" on them. Lol) and use them for storage.

I have seen fresh seeds fallen from the buds germinating in the same pot, but I also had fresh harvested seeds not germinating. I don't have a perfect timetable for this but before I bag the seeds and put them into the fridge I let them dry pretty long. About one month or so.
