Hardening Off?

BriarPatch

My outdoor grow is coming up. My plants are coming along nicely under lights inside. I plan on spinning the clones out after doing a sync with the outdoor light patterns. My question is this. What is hardening off? I have heard a couple people speak of this in posts and have no idea what it is. Is this something that must be done? Does it help? :chin:

Any help is apreciated. First outdoor grow and all.

Peace, :joint:

Hey there - hardening off is the process of getting the plants acclimated to the big HPS in the sky (the Sun), which can be a lot brighter than say a fluoro. Hardening can be done by placing the plants outside for say an hour the first day, then maybe 2 hours the second day etc, gradually getting them used to the greater light source. If you just threw them outside without hardening, they could become stressed/burned/damaged etc.

Hope this helps.

I did this to my bog strains yellow/stunted now superthrive & dark energy is bringing them back to life new growth is healthy my point : keep a bottle of superthrive on hand It might increase your success rate if they do go into shock. Peace

You can harden your plants off by just placing them in semi-shade,for a day or two.
No worry's about toting back and forth.Just place them in shade, before placing in direct sun light.

^^^^I agree with WS^^^^, I leave mine for 4 or 5 days in partial shade, and definitely no direct midday sun too start with.
