I've been Excavating my Little Hillside Crevice in the Jungle.
I believe this hole is labelled 250. I'm trying to make it 2 cubic yards, 3 x 3 x 6 feet deep. Of course, when you're digging, it becomes whatever irregular shape.
This second out of focus picture shows you the basic feature. It's a crevice that runs for about 200 yards and then veers right. It's about a 15% grade so working there is a lot like Exercise.
The crevice faces West, sort of. So one side has a Southern exposure & one side a Northern.
There's brush & trees in the way. It has a natural "peloton" shape, one of those plays where they ride bikes on the oval track.
A different view of the same hole
One thing I learned - the oven is a better way to dry clothes, a lot of times, than the drier. 5 minute pre-heat up to 170, and then turn it off, with a rackful of clothes.
And the oven is definitely a better way to dry boots !
As far as the grow-spots, I was going to allocate a few of them to deer oases, with sunflower plants etc.
And the best ones, for example the ones that are easy to wire up a deer protection fence, with good lighting ... for our favorite Herbs
The combination of shade from the trees and another hillside, pushes flowering times forward by 10 to 14 days.
