I've been Excavating my Little Hillside Crevice in the Jungle.

I believe this hole is labelled 250. I'm trying to make it 2 cubic yards, 3 x 3 x 6 feet deep. Of course, when you're digging, it becomes whatever irregular shape.

This second out of focus picture shows you the basic feature. It's a crevice that runs for about 200 yards and then veers right. It's about a 15% grade so working there is a lot like Exercise.

The crevice faces West, sort of. So one side has a Southern exposure & one side a Northern.

There's brush & trees in the way. It has a natural "peloton" shape, one of those plays where they ride bikes on the oval track.

One thing I learned - the oven is a better way to dry clothes, a lot of times, than the drier. 5 minute pre-heat up to 170, and then turn it off, with a rackful of clothes.

And the oven is definitely a better way to dry boots !

As far as the grow-spots, I was going to allocate a few of them to deer oases, with sunflower plants etc.

And the best ones, for example the ones that are easy to wire up a deer protection fence, with good lighting ... for our favorite Herbs :woohoo:

The combination of shade from the trees and another hillside, pushes flowering times forward by 10 to 14 days.

I'm in Florida. Your pics make me cold just looking at them.

I wear 2 ski parkas. The outer one was sopping wet. Left a puddle on the floor. It's in the oven drying right now !

Wish I could store the cold somehow. For the summer.

July 1 a few years ago, it was so hot & dry a possum killed one of my chickens just for a drink of blood.

The rain ended on about June 28 that year. The rain ends, the heat comes on, 2 1/2 days later it's summer and the possums engage in risky behavior (from a possum point of view) to get a little drink.

Some of the water comes out at the bottom of the hill at the end of the summer. 9 months from now.

I have 1 seedling from a Purple Trainwreck x Apollo - a bud seed from a favorite plant that had about 5 ounces of bud dried.

I've never prepared for a grow season this far ahead but it sort of aligns with some other work, wearing a geologist's hat.

well it could even be hot in MA in that time frame, I hope not I love winter and keep seeming to get burned the last couple years at least and off and on before that... love summer but have to have a good winter to appeciate all that awful heat and humidity all the more! ;)
