Hard Candy with Herborizer

For several months I have been making lots and lots of Canna Hard Candy. It's my wife's favorite medical. There are so many benefits. First and foremost it is more of a body high, which is great for pain. It lasts much longer than vaporizing or smoking. It's easy to dose (again, another medical benefit).

Here is my recipe. If you already have Hash oil and the other ingredients, it takes as little as 10 minutes to make. So easy! This recipe makes about 100+ candies.

Ingredients needed:

  1. Candy flavoring (edible extracts like Cinnamon, Cherry, Watermelon, Vanilla, etc).
  2. 3/4 cup Lite Corn Syrup.
  3. 2 cups of white Sugar.
  4. 1/4 cup of water.
  5. 4 grams of quality Kief, or 4 grams hash oil. (one or the other, not both!)
  6. Optional, food coloring.
  7. Cooking spray.
  8. Paper towel.
  9. Powdered sugar (about a cup).
You will need a metal pot, candy thermometer (the kind that clips to the side of the metal pot is nice), and a wooden spoon works nice (I like the ones with a flat edge. Easier to scrape the pot at the end). Also, you can buy candy or lollipop molds at pretty much any hobby store. They cost about $0.75 each. With this recipe I would get at least 6-8 molds.

Take your candy molds and lay them out in a row. You want these all set to go because when you go to pour the meted candy into them, you will need to work fast. Candy hardens very fast! Lightly spray the molds with the cooking spray. I use a paper towel to wipe down all the molds so that a very light coating is all over them. Remember, less is more here.

  1. Put the 2 cups of sugar in the pot. Add the 3/4 cup of corn syrup in the pot. Then the 1/4 cup of water in the pot.
  2. If using KIEF (instead of Hash Oil). Sprinkle the Kief into the cooking pot.
  3. Put the pot on high heat.
  4. Mix the sugar, syrup, and water with the wooden spoon until consistent.
  5. Add the candy thermometer and clip it on. Don't have the bottom of the thermometer touch the bottom of your cooking pot.
  6. The sugar will start to boil.
  7. If using Hash OIL (instead of Kief), At about 200F add in the 4 grams of Hash Oil. Mix this VERY well into the sugar. Be careful not to get the raw oil on the wooden spoon as you will loose some of it onto the spoon. I do this by mixing around the oil until it mixes with the sugar a bit. Then I just mix it all up fast without worry.
  8. Keep heating this up until you reach about 250-270F (soft crack). It should read Soft Crack on your thermometer.
  9. Pull the pot off the hot stove onto a non-used burner.
  10. Add 2 tsp of your candy flavor.
  11. Add about 3-5 drops of food coloring of your choice.
  12. Mix this up thoroughly for about 30 seconds to 1 minute.
Now you are ready to pour the hot candy into the molds. Be sure to use a good hot pad to hold the handle on your pot. The pot might start feel heavy in your hand and also start to feel hot. Be prepared to work quickly.

  1. Start pouring the hot candy into the molds. Don't over pour. Its better to put less then you think and then come back in 10 seconds and add more if needed.
  2. Keep pouring until you have used all the candy in the pot.
  3. At some point, no candy will come out of the pot, but there is a lot of candy still left in there.
  4. Now take the wooden spoon and scrape that candy out while it's still hot. I am persistent here. I like to get everything. With what comes out I just use my hands to mold bastard looking candies. Hey, they still work just as good. Just not beautiful. :)

Now let everything sit for at least 10-20 minutes. You can put these molds into the freezer to speed up the cooling. This is what I do.

Once the candy is cool, now take a plate or bowl and put the cup of powdered sugar in it. Then take each candy mold and push out the candy into the bowl with the powdered sugar. The idea is to rub the candy with your hands with the powdered sugar. We do this so that the candy doesn't stick to each other when you store it. As the candy gets rubbed with sugar, you can now put it into a ziplock or any other storage container you like.

That's it! Very nice and strong Hash Hard Candy.

A couple things to note. This candy usually takes effect between 15-30 minutes of consuming it. Fast!!! It also lasts about as long as normal edibles (like 4-6 hours). So please always test small doses first before getting in over your head. The candy seems to have a very long shelf life. You may find that you end up with tons of this stuff once you get the knack for making it. Please make sure to store your medical items in a safe place like a combination safe. It would be terrible if a child got a hold of your medicine or even an adult who didn't know better.

Enjoy!

hey this sounds amazing!! thanks for the info my friend. can i use dry sift keif instead of hash oil?

This is a great question. Since I just learned about Dry Ice hash making, I need the answer to this as well. This quick answer is, I have only made this with hash oil. If you find the answer, please post it to this thread!

If you need hash oil help, let me know. It's pretty easy to make.

I make my hash oil just like normal qwiso methods but I use everclear instead of iso, because I personally have Health concerns over consuming anything made with iso.

I just experimented making this same recipe with high grade Kief. What I did was put the Kief in a Pyrex dish and heated it at 245F for 1 hour. Then using the exact sam recipe above, instead of adding hash oil when the candy is at 200f, I put the Kief in as soon as the sugar and corn syrup and water had mixed. I stirred a lot to make sure that the Kief melted in consistent. Myself and my wife tried these Candies yesterday and they were awesome. Very clean and strong. I used the same hash ratio. 2g of Kief per cup of sugar.

I just wanted to chime in and say that I only use Raw Kief these days to make the candy. It's just as good as using the oil, but a lot less expensive and a lot less work.

Happy candy making.
