what up everyone in the coco Lounge  . My names HAPPYTREE and thats what growing does for me. it makes me happy. I am very much a noob at this but found i truly love spending time with the girls even though some time i bitch and moan a little. I ve been posting in the indoor hydro section But ive got this 2x2 table that im gonna experiment coco with top drip style.

After some studying I feeel im ready to embark on this journey. I have a 15 gallon rez Im using Botanicare Pure belnd bloom at 40 ml , and 30 ml liquid karma for 13 gals of water or so. Im feeding run to waste for 1 minute 1 x a day with just a little runoff in the tray. I checked the ppm and ph of th rez and it is 270ppm and ph 5.8 Doe this whole scenario sound right Heres some pics

man those pics suck SORRY

the strain I am running is 8 pineapple trainwreck clones(love this strain), I have found this has a good stretch and feeds moderatley( tops out aroud 1000-1100) so im safe to say for coco it wont go any higher than 800.

Pls any advice is greatly appreciated as iam here just to learn :headbange

Sounds good. Why not recirc? You have the meters it sounds like, that's all ya need. Then u could water up to say 4x per day once they get established/roots on the bottom. Bigger yields no doubt. Why would you think they need lower ppms in coir or did i read wrong? If you already have experience and know what they need ur golden.

Using any calmag? Typically at that size I went with 3-6 to 4-8 ml of calmag-pb and a fairly constant 5ml of LK, then either double or triple that for full size 3-4 ft monsters, but that's just me. I like those emitters, they look sexy. The little dials are great when running different pot sizes, different pressures, nice setup.

edit: measurements are per gallon. Have you measured runoff? Another great thing about recirc (not trying to make you it's all good) when you test the PPMs in the res they tell the story of whether or not ur feeding properly...extreme dips or raising in PPM tells you if ur feeding too little/too much respectively. pH can tell the story too, but too many other factors change pH for that to be reliable, i.e. airation being just one.

Hey aeric thanks for the reply. Iwas thinking of recirculating but ithought that the coco could get back to the rez as some does fallout when i water. I was thinking i could just put a panty hose on the return hose and clean once a week. I run another 2x4 recirculating table in my hut with just hydroton in it.
No i havnt started witht the cal mag but i do see its recomended alot for the coco. i think i will add some next time i go see the ladies.

thanks again

here we are a week later

here we are a week later

1 week later. heres a picture i havnt changed the nutes or anythuing since last time . i have decided to drill a hole in hte tray and recirculating but the runoff int othe rez is very minimal since i stop the pump as soon as i here a drip. Should i be watering more than once a day .

Any suggestions from the coco folks is greatly appreciated.

All seems to look ok

Thanks all

HT

ive havent tried coco yet but am getting ready to, and from what ive gotten from the forums you want to treat the coco more like hydro than soil. like watering multiple times a day (ive read 3-4 waterings) to get those "hydro roots" goin. i got that from one of the stickys.

yah thats the impression im getting. I think somewhere in my research i got overwatering confused with overfeeding.
btw could you tell me if those emitters adjustable or strictly on and off?

The emitters are adjustable with a flat head screwdriver(nickel works also)

Thanks for the reply maybe some coco gurus can chime in.

Yeppers if they are well rooted in the medium (see roots on the bottom?) then I would go to 2 waterings, just a touch more runoff, like the typical 15-20%, as much as 50% when u start recirc. Once they get used to it, in a week or so i would go to the full 3-4 waterings, watch them explode it is amazing. Pantyhose or filter bags on the return line should be sufficient.

Yeah, like Aeric said, if they're fairly well rooted, you should probably step up the waterings - with a single dripper per 1-gallon pot, it seems like there'll be run-off before the medium is well soaked.

In my 4x8 tables w/1-gallon pots, I let my pump run for about 10 minutes, during which time the water level on the table actually rises to about 4 inches... my pump delivers water faster than the table can drain... which makes sure the pots are well soaked before they drain.
