Could you guys give me some tips on how to hang my mylar wrinkle free? How do you fasten it to the walls? Staples? Some sort of glue?Tape? My last mylar job is a horrible sight so I just got another roll of 2mil x 25' mylar from wormsway. Any tips would be awsome. Thanx Guys! :joint:

hang it off the roll vertically like you would with wallpaper then cut it to length required,
put the big roll out ya way a minute ,,
now tape or pin 1 corner of the mylar up to the corner of ya wall , line up the mylar with the wall ,when its straight pin the other corner, smoothing out the top edge as u go ,
now smooth down the mylar and pin it where ever its needed or every 12 "to keep it nice an flat
repeat round the whole room

simple

I cut carboard posterboard templates to the sizes I needed to fit my area.

I then used spraycan adhesive glue on the cardboard templates and applied the mylar.

Hang where needed.

Great Ideas, I have to do it this weekend, I like the Idea witht the pins seems like that would be better so if I do mess up it can easliy be fixed. Any other methods?

:edit :
Also I know this is off subject but should I even bother with the ceiling?

I use a staple gun, but I put up an index card to staple through so the mylar does not tear. This will still tear eventully, but it works for larger pieces and working alone.

i recently got a tip from a friend: cut the length you need for a wall, then staple the CENTER of the top first. then the the center of the bottom, then each side. then stretch one way and staple the corner, then the other way and staple the corner. and then work you way around. after its all stapled you can tape the seams with tuck tape, the red stuff.

I find a staple gun and lots of swearing helps.
A heavy duty scapel gun will fire into the plaster on most walls. I find it works very well.
I also like to stick to pieces of mylar (at the corners) with some foil tape.

Adshevise spray also works a charm, just make sure your walls are very clean and free of dust loose paint..etc

Thanx all for the help! Gonna go see if I have any velcro if not im either gonna use postal tape(the clear tape made for closing boxes before you mail them), or a stapler prob both

Don't use mylar but I heard of people using duct tape and then stappling or nailing through that. The tape will prevent the mylar from tearing. Velco sounds like a good idea but it's costly.

Two sided stickey tape in the corners and tack it to this stuff and you got lightweight movable mylar walls that wont bend or crease in areas of heavy humidity. Owens foamular sheets 4' by 8' and 3/4" thick, you can get inch thick but I find thats overkill. At home depot or lowes.

if its a metal cabinet business card magnets work...another alternative is they have security blankets that are made out Mylar and have a heavy backing...really nice stuff..washable and doesnt rip

I used ventilation tape(looks like tin foil with an adhesive side) and put two layers of tape everywhere I was gonna staple, I didnt do half bad for hangin it my self. Wish I had a digi so I could show off! LOL, I also put tape up in the corners, by bending the tape length wise and putting half down either side. Sure beats the old stuff I had, it was a long roll of the stuff they make car sun reflectors out of(You know you put it in your window so your car dont heat up). My Babyies LOVE it!
