How on earth can one hang a cfl light horizontally? there is onyl a socket at one end, and the thing is heavy. is there anything that i can tie around the bulb end to supsend it across the top of the plants, rather than just hanging down?
I would go to the hardware store with the socket and a picture or diagram of the reflector and ask someone how you can attach the socket to the reflector. Maybe a combination of metal straps and clamps could be made workable.
For all shapes of metal braces, look for a place that sells decking materials.
Maybe someone else will chime in with more specific ideas.
at any walmart or local hardware store you can purchase a garrage type single bulb light with clamp and round reflector. i carefully unscrewed the ceramic mogul base disconnected the 2 wires and removed the reflector. then re assyembled the light with clamp, next i screwed in a Y adaptor which holds 2 bulbs each. the rest in the link is sefl explainitory i havent used the turkey baster pan as a reflector in awhile but it works nice and is very cheap. for the baster pan reflector i cut a hole in each end of the pan same size as the lights mogul, i then inserted the light fixture and screwed in the Y adaptor then bulbs i use. when i used them pans i ran 145w in mixed cfl's in each pan
Drill a couple of holes on the top of the reflector a few centimeters before where the cfl ends. Then put an iron wire through the holes and tie the bulb to the reflector. Now it has support in both ends. Works fine.
