Hanging a Vortex?

Hi all, Gypsy suggested that I hang the Vortex fan using elastic rope or bungee.

I searched the forums (and i'll continue searching) but could not find anyone who's doing this. Can someone please show me a photo or give a description of how to hang a vortex with elastic rope?

I want the exhaust hole to be facing the cieling....I see most people have their vortex the other way (exhausting to the side, rather than up).

hi, u simply have to mechanically connect the fans out put via flexible duct \like a dryer duct
the bungy/elastic advice is solely for noise/vibration suppression/dampening.

the fans ussually come with some mounting brakets w/holes for srews/fasteners which u would utilizee to attach your bungy rope(s)

DON"T LET THIS BEAT YOU!!!!! YOU CAN DO IT JUST BE CREATIVE, post some pics if u would and someone will help u some more if need be!!!
peace!

Balanced motors with permanently lubricated ball bearings ensure vibration-free operation

only have experiance with Vortex and Dayton...Squirel Cage Fans suck vortex own

It's not so much the vibration, it's that there's no way to mount it. The weight of the fan is too much for the brackets and it will just splinter out of the wood...either that or the bracket would probably eventually fail...it was designed for the air to go horizontal.

I need the fan to take the air upward.

I might come up with something. IDK..thinking on it.

Does anyone know what those bungee things are called?

like i/we have suggested mount the fucker sideways (as designed) you may have to beef-up ur mounting surface w/ some more material/wood u mentioned splinters and
unsatisfactory existing wood. ( i use 2x2s screwed to the ceiling for mine) then use a piece of flex duct/tubing to make the transition upward.
good luck and keep us posted, you,ll get there!!

splinters? wtf? I have mine mounted in 3/4 plywood and I could lean on the thing!

I think it's very likely I will. I'm going to take some pictures of the proposed setup and ask what my possibilities are.

Thanks.

Yours must be mounted so that it exhausts horizontally, rather than upward.

My 8" is mounted vertically on a chunk of 2x6 across 2 studs...no splintering or any problems at all mounting it.

They're not designed to be mounted in any certain position...your grow area just isn't ideal due to the lack of standard framing.

Kind of hard to tell what I did in that pic, but its the best one I have up. I mounted it on a 2x4... then inserted two J-hooks. Did the same thing on the celieng. Hung it with bungie cords, tie into the position I wanted it with rope.
