Hanging a non reflected 600 watt bulb.

I'm thinking about saying screw a reflector now for several "security" reasons. It would just be easier to move a bulb and ballast and plug when it comes time to move out. I have 6 plants, well not quite, they are still seeds. Do you all think that I will be fine just hanging the bulb inbetween the 6 plants, or would I "greatly" benefit from the use of a good reflector. Thanks for the help guys.

I've seen pics in hightimes and all over overgrow (when it was still around) of people just hanging lights from the cord with no reflector,
it saves money and gives one other options for the thing called lighting..........

you will be fine not using a reflector.. but a reflector would give you significantly better results, seeing how the penetration and output of a 600w hid is huge.

This is what I figured. I my rig something up and make my own reflector. I think I will go for a hanging bulb because of cost effectiveness. Thanks for the inputs.

dont hang your light from itrs cord, ever! its dangerous for obvious reasons. hang it with a chain or metal cable

The Sun Systems socket/cordset has a hanger on it. I was considering going vertical for a time, but decided to just use what I have. If I would've, I'd have used these cordsets to hang some vertical bulbs from chain.

Ive' seen it done hundreds of time(bulbs hanging from wire) Not that i would personally do it that way if i were to grow that style. Myself I use a vented reflector.

You see that style of growing 5 K and up. Also more common when people are growing trees.

Oh obvious reason.... Wire is being stressed constanly when used as a hanging cord. I dont think it's a problem, but definatly not the best way.

I have used naked bulbs when I first started off. All I could afford was a ballast and bulb. It was all the money I had. Everything came out fine too. I now use air cooled hoods because I could afford em after my first harvest. I say do what you gotta do to get things going and re-invest when the time comes.
