ive tryed every kind of grow light ... you do when you start out ...its only natural , i grew under halogens 300watts ... there crap lol.
peopel always say wrong spectrum like it just doesnt work ... fine they are the wrong spectrum but they do veg plants ... not well but they do .
flowering on the other hand. well personally spitting on them is more helpful....
listen to the growers who have done it before... we've try it all even feeding weed guiness if they got a iron diff lol ... or banana skins while flowering for extra potassium
1)halogens suck ..clear and simple
2)incandesents suck .. (normal house bulbs) but i did yeild 14grams on a 4foot plant with a 100watter lol .....they suck lmao
3)florecents bought in a DIY store ..... excellent for seeds and very early veg... massive ammount of them very close to plants can flower them ie 500watts
4)hydroponic florecents (mother wings,bright wings) ..... amazing.. seeds, veg, keeping mums .. some people also flower under them ..but not easy
5)HPS (High Pressure Sodium)... doesnt get better than this... can be used for veg and flowering but mainly flowering
6)MH (Metal Halide)..... doesnt get better than this ..... can be used for veg and flowering but veg is prefered ...
there you go what works and what doesnt ....
if your interested in halogen because there can easily be bought and very affordable ... you can get a 150watt HPS for little bit more ... but cheap
plants use 2 different types of light what we call kelvin (its the temperature colour of the bulb output ..... ie blue light ,red light
the vegerative kelvin is between 6000k and 6700k ... standard 6400k
the flowering kelvin is between 1900k and 3200k ... standard 2700k
you can find the kelvin of any light bulb there is it says either on the packaging or on the manufacters website
so next time you go shopping for cheap bulbs at least you know what to looking for : ) 2700K for flowering ..... 6500k for veg

YEah i was pretty stoned and reading about this 99cent sale on 500watt halogen bulbs and was thinking it seems like all the shit you need to grow isnt cheap,

i know man i thought the same in the begining the way you get by is you save up once for a year ... buy a proper but basic grow light 150/ 250watts hps and a proper fan ... the system you build from a local DIY shop for next to nothing ... get some good seeds and grow them dont worry about florecents or anything else people say to get ... harvest after 3 months and it pays for all your equipment ... thats the way forward
if then you find you want a better set up you harvest and buy the next lots burning holes in your pockets lol... and buy it then the first harvest pays for the set up ... .. every harvest after that is up to you .. money or smoke
why dont you grow a couple outdoors somewhere next year? at least its something to work towards . and look on https://www.amazon.com
for cheap grow lights ... there inexpensive on there .. still not cheap but cheaper

wow 140 is great. I am running a 300w hps for my 2 bushy plants and have 10 clones under florescence and i scored 6 50w hos ballast secuirty lighting that can hang from a chain . 10$ for em all . i love yard sales and mostly love craigslist. I am usin this holiday of no work to assemble the 12 bucket dwc . just the big bag of hydrotron, 12 8" netlids and novagrow nutes was 100$ . construction sites are a awsome place to score material
