Guinea pig heater - UK news

So I searched on here at the time, but didn't find anything related when using the term 'guinea pig', so after a few more days I thought I'd ask here

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-bradford-west-yorkshire-12169711

Its about a woman who had the po po come knocking because of a heli snapping a heat source in her garage. Turned out to be a guinea pig heater. My question is how hot does something have to be in order to cause the authorities concern, if they happen to scan your house from a helicopter?

I'm growing in my attic, and at present have a tiny 150W HPS with ballast, but it still gets warm. Although I'm not concerned about that, I'm interested to know whether something like a 400W HPS and its ballast would show up like? An attic isn't something you generally have much if any electrical heat sources coming from.

I guess the answers will point out that if you cool your equipment properly, you shouldn't have any worries.

Thoughts?

There are tons of threads on heat signature on here, just search. The cameras police use take a surface temperature reading they can't see through walls. So this lady's garage roof was probably hotter than the roof of her house making the police think there was a significant source of heat in the garage, which there was. Your attic grow will be fine with either of those wattages, I don't think 400w is a significant source of heat, insulate the grow, and circulate the rest of the air in your attic with a box fan or something and I'm sure that your roofs surface temperature won't be much hotter than your neighbors.

Thanks man, I didn't think about searching for heat signature, I searched to see whether that article had been posted.
