I'm trying a new strategy this year to try to cut down on botrytis, mold, and PM.
Usually, I prep the native soil with pulverized lime, insect frass, perlite, some very small, basic amendments (the native soil is decent). I mostly feed using water soluble ferts, which requires me to water, obviously.
Later on the year when the plants are going into flower and the rains are around the corner, I want to not have to water in order to feed the plants. I fear that my watering at the end of the season, in tandem with the autumn rain, is leading to increased mold and other problems.
So my question is when and what should a guerrilla topdress for flower? Keep in mind the amendments have to be light, because there's a lot to carry.
My thinking is that this way I can still feed the plants through flowering but let the rain do the work, while cutting down on mold in the process.
