Guerrilla top dress fert question

Hey guys lets say someone had some spots they prepped with promix, native soil, compost and controlled release nutes and micros (prills) (similar to osmocote)

hole amendment rate was based of average plants and held to the low side because you can't un-amend soil...

Looking for a veg nute boost for the over achievers but dont want to top dress any more prills because the Time/Soil temps would end up pushing too much N late into bloom.

I was wondering if anyone had experience with top dressing dry (water soluble) nutes and letting the rain do the work... some spots mixing/watering nutes is not labor feasible.

Also looking for the same dry top dress for bloom...

Remember animals are a problem for me
:thank you:

I have put a 1/2 " thick layer of cow manure before around the plants.
With added bone meal fertilisers just hand sprinkled around the plants.
Both the manure and bone meal feed every time water is applied.

Bat guano is another option.

If you want something real cheap. Just buy regular 7-7-7 lawn fertiliser without the herbicides.

BTW: The fertiliser you put a link for will work nicely.

I believe regular old Jack's Classic 20-20-20 and Blossom Booster 10-30-15? can be sprinkled as a topdress and the rain will water it in. I've done it with the vegetation surrounding my plants before and it seemed to work.

Like Duskray, I too as well use either jacks classic or the local farm store ( triple 20 water soluble) for a booster. Really digging the Jacks, it is by far the best for the buck and superior results as well.

I watch the forecast and a day before it rains I top dress the soil with water soluble ferts. Now I have developed a couple methods that make it more handy and efficient as well.

1) Get a parmesan cheese container and put your nutes in it, you can use this perfectly to gently shake and sprinkle around the base of your plants. I never measure (used to) but just kinda eye it out. I always use a small handful in measurement because some of it will wash away.

2) Dont just sprinkle it on there and leave especially if the plant is on a slope in any way. Kinda rub up a ring of dirt in a circle around the plant about a foot away from the stalk and create a barrier ( hope you get the picture). Then sprinkle the ferts and take a stick and kinda scruff and scrub it around into the soil a little. This keeps it from washing away because ive observed it wash right away especially if its a heavy down pour. This pointer will really help you.

Hope this helped bro, good luck with your grow!

Something else to keep in mind, if you have (not water soluble) but granular fertilizer, and say you have a plant that is growing rather too quickly and standing out too much (outgrowing the surrounding vegetation that is security for your plant), you can take handfuls of the stuff and kinda toss/sling it into the area you wish to provide more cover from and it works like a charm.

Also, If your wearing down a trail in the brush on your way out sprinkle the fertilizer around and it will recover as well.

I think mountainbudz is on to something...unless quick release, you don't want too much nitrogen (NPK), but balance of NPK..... Solstice is around the corner....maybe higher nitrogen until mid-late July (??)

We always had good organic soil to start with and added alfalfa meal.
http://www.gardeningknowhow.com/garden-how-to/soil-fertilizers/fertilizing-with-alfalfa-meal.htm

And more sativa or indica?

If growing autos, don't apply high nitrogen....if anything, higher phosphorus.

Bone/blood meal attracted critters that dig......our experience.
