Guerilla Growing Should be in the Olympics

I was out doing my morning hill walk (walk up the hill, walk down the hill) & thinking about some of the Recreational Opportunities that can come with Guerilla Growing.

My personal favorite, carrying a heavy backpack full of water through a Very Large Pile (50 yards x 100 yards) of Tick-Filled Rotting Wood.

One time I did that, I ended up with 6 ticks.

Of course, there are a lot of different things to carry for Guerrilla, and they weigh a lot, so I think the Event should involve carrying a large weigted backpack.

Going through a Big Pile of Rotting Wood. :woohoo:

Crossing a River with up to hip-deep water. Maybe more.
Maybe smoking a spliff at designated rest stops.

Altogether I think it would make a GREAT Olympic Event !

The modern Olympic slogan is Citius, Altius, Fortius, which translates from the original Latin as Faster, Higher, Stronger.

Also the definition of guerilla growing.

Ha. Toting water is the easy part. Back in 08/09 I was hauling dirt through the woods then digging in red clay, granite, quarts, and tree roots.

Topic of this thread made me laugh a little. Guerrilla growing isn't a sport, its an adventure.

What if you're growing Haze-ish plants ?

One of my first experiences was growing / trying to grow Sativa's in a grassy wild area.

I put them in 5 gallon buckets. An Extreme Beginner Mistake Literally, TOO STUPID to plant them in the ground. Pretty easy to see from the air !

So that part of the event could be ... carrying 2x 5 gallon buckets, full of dirt, one in each hand, through 100 yards of mud. With a gallon of water and 2 seedlings in your backpack.

The judges could judge you for time on the bucket carry, and then Quality on the transplant.

Team work

Team work would be part of the competition too. I find it helpful anyway.
I've found that having one trusted grow buddy makes guerrilla growing a lot easier, especially if you're both good outdoors-men, know how to NOT leave a trail, etc. and you work well together. You can cover a lot more area and get a lot more accomplished as a team... and then the harvest you split is often 3 - 4 times what you'd have been able to accomplish on your own, just because 2 guys can carry a lot more than one... a-n-n-d two minds are also better than one... you each see what the other misses as you help one another overcome the inevitable unexpected problems you run into when you're guerrilla growing. "Look," whispered quietly, "some hunter's lost dog." That ain't a dog PG!
But in the few seconds it took to make our collapsible shovels into make-shift hatchets the gray ghost disappeared back into the woods and the plants in our packs weren't gettin' any lighter.

Side note about the ticks - Lyme disease and Rocky Mountain Spotted fever aren't nothing to toy with. Also be wary of poisonous snakes. Cottonmouths will chase you. So run and/or carry a revolver with snake shot. Wild bore will require .38 or .45 caliber slugs. As Andrew Zimmer(bizzar foods TV host) says, if it looks good, eat it! :D

Food for thought.

last year we had a spot which we called the tick spot, you could literally see 20 or 30 of them just chilling on some stick and branches of dead trees just waiting to jump on you. Every 2 minutes u had to do a tick check... terrible, last year seemed to be worse than ever!

You would touch that place and see at least 15 of them crawling your legs, fkn disgusting... also got lymes, but also got some sticky nugs ;P

I've camped out all over the U.S. and unfortunately the ticks are worse where I live than anywhere.
I keep an old sock filled with sulfur powder every year and dust my trousers ands boots down with it before going to the secret garden.. It works..

But back on topic: Yeah, guerilla growing isn't for sissies, the faint of heart, or weaklings.....

HA !
I qualify for this Olympics. To get to my grow from my camp is three miles round trip. This is steep ravines, creek bottoms, blow downs, etc. I average about a mile an hr, and that's humping it in 95 degree heat.
I start on a dirt rd for approx. 1/2 mile, then down into a creek bottom where I have to work my way through tree blowdowns for another 1/2 mile, then back on a dirt rd that is up and down. This leads to a giant blackberry patch that I have to navigate and not leave a track. I work my grow and then go back same way.
All this time, I have to keep hid from planes, 4x4s, atvs, utvs, hunters, and especially game cameras. Blowdowns are a jungle gym where you are going over, under, around and through.
Doing this 2-3 times a week. See poisonous snakes every trip. Especially at night. Only did the night trip once. Not doing that one again.

I do have a recommendation for you guerilla growers.
I wear a bug suit. This is a nylon based product that you can wear that keeps red bugs (chiggers) and ticks off of you. I couldn't do my grow without wearing mine. This is a breathable product that fits snug to your body that is camo colored to help you stay hid. About $80 for top and bottom. I highly recommend this product if you have to navigate rough country. Once you start sweating, this product helps to keep you cool. It's very thin as well. These can be purchased online from Cabelas or Bass Pro Shops.
Bugskinz is one type.
