done guerilla grows for over 20 seasons. spent a lot of money and time on poor tools and poor technique. actually gave up one outdoor location by chopping trees with an axe (too loud) instead of sawing. got to see my plants on tv for that mistake. :)

so, work smart, not hard? nope. guerilla growing is hard work. just learning how the right tools of the trade with the knowledge of how to go about biz the smart way is what this thread's about.

come on in and post your best ideas.

ok, the best innovation i've seen in od guerilla growing is the mini greenhouse technique. here's the thread:

https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=278674

^^ had to take down pics ( here and home url's) for security reasons. nearly walked into a leo mousetrap. came in thru the woods. they were facing a path nearby with their backs to me as i came in thru the woods. my big fat self made too much noise and one turned around and looked right at my location. got out ok. work smart!

like posting pics of your grow on ic mag or other places? be advised that many cameras including smart phones give out the gps coordinates of your grow in those pretty pics to get all those positive reps. and be "one of the boys".

machetes for clearing brush:

here's two excellent very short vids that that show how a pro clears brush:

3) There is nothing more important for cutting down on the time it takes to clear brush and tall grasses than the "gancho" or hook.

Typically, the hook is made in the field out of a bifurcating branch as the image above shows. By using the hook in the opposite hand as that which wield the machete, considerable time and effort can be saved. Just a few advantages:

-Keeps hands further from where the machete will be cutting to avoid accidents.

-Pulls vegetation taught so that it can be cut more easily.

-Prevents animal and snake bites by eliminating the need to grasp with the hands.

-Pulls vegetation aside to expose the stalks and trunks of plants for easy cutting.

-Prevents cut vegetation from interfering with areas still to be cut.

-Protects from thorns and briars.

-Can be used to pull obstacles such as fallen limbs out of the way to allow unrestricted cutting.

what type of machete you purchase depends on what you intend to clear. the video makes it easy to determine.

Thanks for the mini greenhouse link, I've been planning this for quite some time but missed that thread. I tend to lose 80% of my outdoor seedlings so that should work. I had planned on using big 5 liter ones instead but it's good to know that small ones do the trick.

To add something, I don't go anywhere without an army style folding shovel.
