Anyone have experience with guatemalan stuff ? or know about genetics over there

My friend brought back some landrace stuff by accident
(I don't think highly of that, dangerous)

full of seeds

very sativa, third world looking buds

some seeds are really small others are medium sized

I thought he meant they were seeds from buds brought back from Guatamala.
How was the smoke?

yes it is weed brought back here

I would love to send some out to experienced growers who can do grow/smoke reports

not sure if that is allowed in the TOU :)

the weed was scraggly looking but I don't think it's because of the genetics but more the growing methods
it was also very fluffy and smelt spicy

the high, you couldn't feel any indica properties

it was racey, and one word I used to describe it was

disturbing :)

my friend who brought it back agreed lol

as for the taste, nothing to write back home, being it was full of seeds, very dry, it was harsh :)

I didn't smoke much of it, I will smoke more next time and let you guys know

I know this won't help much. I was in Guatemala in the late 70's for a week. There's a settlement at Lake Atitlan [a sizable bottomless crater lake in the volcanic mountains]. Very beautiful with a year round Spring climate due to the altitude. It's like an artist colony with lots of foreigners including a number of Americans.

An American I met and hung with at Tikal had a bag he scored at Lake Atitlan. Grown there. I thought it was really great, and was as good as some of the best Columbian of the day, only it was green instead of gold like almost all the Columbian available. It was likely Columbian or Mexican genetics. Sativa, mostly seedless.

I wouldn't be surprised if your friends seed could yield some great bud if grown and cured properly. Have fun and report back. -granger

The racey disturbing aspect may be due to early harvest. That may be some great seed if grown out with care.

^^

the buds definitively did not seem filled up

I think I know someone that would like to grow them out

Guatemalan sativas tent do be very similar to mexican ones... due to the latitude of course. So both the maturation and the high are pretty similar, as opposed to the more tropical late maturing and heavy colombian strains.

There is a line called Peteneras, which was used in the guatemalan hybrids from ACE Seeds... Tikal and Guawi.

but there is always the possibility that the stuff from guatemala was brought from columbia right ?

where in guatemala is it from? most of guatemala as i remember had nugs grown locally. back then maybe only on the coasts could u get colombian brick. it is very easy to see the difference between colombian brick or the locally grown nugs, atleast should be unlless nothing weird has been done to the nugs.

Make a piece of fresh leaf with your dry stuff to
rehydrate it, it would be better to smoke.
Just a little rehydratation, don't let them be moist.
If its the case, just let it dry a little.
Good smoke.

When you say "heavy" colombia are are you refering to the stone?
So Ace's Guatamalan = Peteneras?
Cheers.

Hey my friend! :tiphat:

Yeah exactly, I mean the ending stone after the climax from some sativas like colombians or even some africans I've triend as well (ACE's Malawi, Swazi Red or Ciskei come to mind). Still great effect and nothing compared to the couchlock from heavy indicas!

Yeah, ACE's guatemalan as far as I know are the so called "Peteneras" line. I have one packet around, I really want to grow them and see how they smoke and maybe make some crosses too. Mexicans, some Guatemala and Ecuador Celestial Temple sounds like a great mix of happy and affordable flowering plants for me to play around!

I know what you mean, some Thai weed leaves me tired after the sativa rush wears off.
I too want to grow the Ace Guatemala, but too cold here I think.
