Officers searching a Mount Auburn home for drugs this week make an unusual find-two alligators guarding a stash of pot.

Officers arrested 34 year old Lavon McCants at his home on McCormick Place on Monday. When they went to execute a search warrant, police say they found two four foot long alligators guarding the stash.

Investigators say they also found nine pounds of pot.

McCants is charged with felony drug possession and possession of exotic animals. He is out on bond.

i have heard similar stories before . gators are a common redneck pet . even i had one for a while in s florida. we used to catch babies for fun in my bassboat. i like how they croak calling for momma. all ya need is roadkill and chickens .

a well known breeder got busted a few years back with a guardgator, cant remember who it was but it made me laugh

Lions n tigers have been found here in the hood in the basements of grow and dope houses , gators don't really suprise me .
