Guano soil

Guest

Been thinking about using a guano heavy soil mix for my next cycle and want some opinions.

This is what I want to use:

Pro mix
perlite
EWC
N guano
P guano
kelp meal
greensand

Is all this guano just too much? MJ loves guano no doubt, but I don't want to overdo it.

Guano is by far one of my favorite organic ferts because it is so versatile.
I wish I had a guano type recipe for you to compare with, I'm sure the great B1 can chime in here and post on as he is the recipe wizard.
I'm always afraid of burning my plants, it's possibly by only crutch as a grower because I want a smooth toke at all costs and that's including yield.
You'll have to mix more P guano than N to have a good flowering mix but I'm sure you already knew that.
I do something with guano that I never every hear anyone else doing and that's topdressing, it's so simple and easy you just topdress with a few tablespoons and everytime you water you feed your plants, it sort of an in between using it as a tea or an ammendment, plus you get a continuous feed and if you get burning you scrape it off the topsoil.
All this to say I like to cover my ass so I would get less in the soil mix and topdress later.

:2cents:
Keep it rocking bro.

hey bbc how much of what are you planning to add? with guanos you cant just throw this much in the soil and expect good results. they are easier to use as a tea or like suby said a top dressing ( you aint the only mofo to do that shit ) when mixing in the soil it can be a bit hot sometimes. but if done right you can just watch them grow.

I was thinking 2 tblsp per gallon of mix.

My last mix was bone/blood/kelp/lime and supplemented with guano/kelp/ewc/mollases tea......good results too!

I've never thought of topdressing with guano, I thought it was too hot...hmmm.....perhaps I will try that out someday.

Yea I flower in the same pots I veg in (2 gal), but I'm not growing trees, I'm dealing with a sativa that stretches like crazy, so it's one batch of soil mix for the whole go, sog style. (i'm vegging under a 1000 hps for a week, so they really take off)

OK so help me figure this out then, should I put 1 tblsp per gal N guano, and perhaps 2 per gal P guano? or would that still be too much N?

And a word on greensand: I've never used it before, got my K from kelp last time, is it worth it?..I've heard that it takes a looong time before it is available.

Jaykush: a two week cookdown for the soil should be fine?

Im with ya guys on the top dressing. So much easier than makin a tea cause ya gotta do it a few days ahead of time. Might not make enough or to much.

This is what im using

Peace and *bong* :friends:

Word JayK, and I may be french but I was not arogant enough to think i was the "only mofo" who topdresses lmfao.

I would recommend 1TBS per gallon of soil to start and bump it up and no greensand is not usefull really unless recycling your soil.

Peace

Nice....thanks for the heads up guys.

I am going with one tblsp per gal as you suggest Suby, for both I've decided.

I'll give em that extra P guano in the tea during flower.

Pro mix 50%
perlite 30%
EWC 20%
1 tbls per gal N Guano
1 tbls per gal P Guano
1 tbls per gal Kelp meal
2 tbls per gal D. Lime

This is the mix I am going to try, if anybody thinks it needs any adjustments chime in and voice your opinion.

I love this website :D :headbange

1TBL spoon per gallon is even too much in my opinion. I use maybe half a teaspoon in a gallon, i use one whole teaspoon and a half in a 3 gallon pot.. but then again, I use more than just guano for nutes. I use Fox Farms Peace of Mind all purpose 5-5-5, Fox Farms marine cuisine 10-7-7, and not to mention that I boom my microlife and fungus (mycorrhizae). I usually aim for "just add water" type mixes where the only thing I need to give to the plants with water is some molasses and the very occasional tea. :joint:

if I ever need a crazy nute boost I simply give them a watering with a tiny bit of maxicrop liquid seaweed, that shit can :fsu: though so be careful if you use it.

It really depends when you hit them with the guano, I agree that 1TBS is heavy if you have a mix with alot of blood meal or bone meal in it or any other soil conditioner, and definately too much if your using a bottled fert for flowering.
When I use guanos as a main fetilizer I go very light on the solid ammendments that I add to my soil.

Suby I'm not using any bottled ferts at all, I'm talking about putting N and P guano mixed directly into the soil, that's the measurements I'm after, no blood/bone in the mix at all, just guano's for N and P to keep it simple.

hey I agree 1 tablespoon seems a bit for the heavy feeders. two teaspoons sounds better for all around and if needed some teas can help suppliment. i would cut the kelp in half and foliar spray with kelp twice a week you don't want as much in the soil during flowering since your doing a sog.
