Guano Question?

G

Guest

IC,

I have a question for all you organic brothers... :joint: ?

Using guano in the soil mix for the first time... Using Canna Professional soil mix with added perlite...

Agriluca bat guano (13.12.2) to be added to the soil mix.

My question is how much Guano (g) would you mix into a 100 Litre soil mix???

The soil mix would be for planting out 1x Grapefruit & 1x Blueberry on a 400w Scrog.

Peace,

Sativa :joint:

sativa,

I'm not a big fan of mixing the guano's in the potting mix...I like the teas....Is the PSG the only guano you have....You really need a Hi N, and Hi Phos guano to go with it....LC

Hi there Cowboy,

Thanks for your input, What is meant by the term PSG?

Regards.

sativa,

Peruvian Seabird Guano....With the NPK you give on the guano, that's the "type" guano you have.....It's the best *hit you can get.....LC

Cowboy,

The guano I have is not PSG. it is Cuban bat guano...I intend to use it for the soil mix.

During the flowering period teas containing molasses and South African bat guano with an npk of 3.10.2 would be used...

Obviously will not need to add a lot of the Cuban guano to the soil mix. Question is how much???

Peace.

Never heard of a "cubian" seabird guano, but no problem...As long as the NPK is the same....I've ask a grower to come to your aid on the "dry" mixing of the guano's....Be patient and he'll be around soon, I hope....LC

:Bolt:

watch how much PSG you are adding to your mix, its very hot.
do a search here for the proper dosing and let your mix age well before using.

check the first three pics in the above link...this is what can happen when using copious amounts of psg, and lack of a long 'cure' if you will.......technically you are composting;

LC uses a 2 week period of time, i would recommend you do at least a month and make sure to keep that watered as it dries out and well churned all the time, at least every couple days, to aerate the mix and prevent the gropwth of harmful pathogens in the medium you'll soon be planting to.

no experience with canna products, but i highly suggest you check the ingredients on the back of the bag of canna professional mix, make sure it does not already contain soil ammendments such as this

call them on a payphone and ask if it' not listed....most likely just soiless mix though, 'promix' or 'professional mix' usually is

be well

hope this helps

I've ask someone to visit the thread and reccomend some guano "dry" measurments for you....Hope he'll be around soon....

Yeah, Captain, I forgot to add that the mix should sit for a wk or two for availability...The guano's are somewhat fast release compared to bonemeal, but a week should get the job done....Or if the plants are on "full" feed, you can moisten the mix with a 1/2 strength CBG tea...I might also add that the guano must be a mix of some different guano's...The NPK that you give can only come from the sea/ocean....Bat guano's from land bats don't have the NPK contents that you gave....JMO....LC

Captain,Cowboy,

Thank you very much for the information...I am looking forward to Cowboy's friends measurements...

I don't think the Cuban guano is from the sea, nor is it a mix...Here is a link to their website; http://www.bat-guano.com/default.html

Peace.

I've used Bat for years..Whitney farms hi-N.mixed dry with soil@1Tbs/gal..should be about right for veg. During the final transplant use Belize Hi-p same rate..then add a good organic low npk like Old Age or FF Tiger at 1tsp/gal of water for weeks 2-7 every other watering.Peruvian SB must be some really 'hot' stuff..the woman who runs the local organic shop, just reccomended that I 'Not' buy it..

Skunkenstien,

Your input is much appreciated, thankyou very much... I have had some experiance with 'Hot' PSG resulting in to much N and burned tips...this is why I would like to know about Bat Guano measurements...

peace.

Hey sativa I dont use guano, but I did read Bog&DJ shorts books. I am not going to suggest a guano mix cause that would be Bullshit!!! I will say that the less you use the better, you can add more from tea bag style later if need be. I use blood& bone meal which work great and are cheap. If you need those mixes I am more than happy to give them to ya. good luck

I would not mix the guano with all 100 liters of soil mix. Instead, pot one plant with it mixed in, and see how it does. I would start with 1/4 cup of guano to 1 gallon of soil mix.

As lc says, tea is the better method for feeding with high N guano.

If your going to mix it in the soil then mix it in the bottom of your flowering mix for extra feeding when the plant needs it. Also feed with the teas too.

Im with LC on this one, Guanos are not used well as a soil amendment.

PSB will raise the ph of your nute mix and is not meant to be used at all dry for house plants. I use psb all the time instead of ph up. I use a bunch in veg and a little in flower.

Thanks all for your valued information...I think I shall follow the good advice and stick with the teas;)

Peace:)

If going with teas, you might start with 1 TBS per gallon of water to begin with and increase as needed.....Always let the water sit for 24 hrs before adding the guano...This will give the chlorine time to evaporate and won't kill the bacteria in the guano's....If bubbling with an aquarium pump and airstone....Bubble for 1 hr and the chlorine will be gone.....LC

I agree with LC, I also would let sit another 24Hr after mixing in guano. To let PH settle.

I think The main problem with bat,,is the amounts that are reccomended on the containers..put 1-2inches on top soil and work-in, with a pick-axe. Or sprinkle 1lb.for every 50ft..and water in well.Iguess when you're leaves curl-up so much....they look like their givn you the finger...you have gone to Far!!
