growroom design to increase G/W or G/kwh...lets brainstorm!

You read the title....so lets see what we can come up with to increase our efficiency!

Anything you can imagine is acceptable. No need to back up ideas with concrete evidence, this is just to get some thoughts flowing. Anything goes, if you have limitations in mind with your design(plant #'s, wattage, height, floorspace) might want to mention them. :woohoo:

So here are a couple of mine:

All out, no limitations:
Vertical SOG stadium with a 1k HPS on a vertical light mover(up and down). Cap the top of the stadium with a big ass parabolic reflector. Sealed, CO2 enriched, AC'd this is done through a recirculating lung box since there would be limited space in the stadium. As the HPS bulb comes to the end of its vertical movement, the light is cast directly down by the parabolic reflector, this is to aid top buds which dont always get the light they need in a stadium, especially in this situation with the light mover.

Personal minimalist, 2 plant perpetual SCROG, stealth....while still pushing yield:
Two 1.5 square foot boxes about 3 feet in overall height. Both with 150 hps's. Both SCROG'd, as one is flowering the other is vegging and filling the screen. As the plant in flower is harvested, a few clones are taken from the vegging plant as it is switched into flower. Clones rooted/vegged in most recently harvested box....strongest is used to fill screen. Keep the cycle going. (in the process of getting this finalized :nanana: lol)

So lets hear what your thinking of implementing in your next design to increase your growroom/box efficiency!!

The setup I would like to try is a 5' x 12' grow tunnel with 2 600W bulbs on 6 foot light movers with the same SWC setup I use now. I figure, 60 plants with a low average of 1 ounce per plant would end up at almost 4 LBs per harvest out of 1200 watts, or almost 8 LBs with a 2 Ounce per plant average. I'd only have to grow 1 harvest a year that way! :D

12 plant sea of green in current closet (16"x36"x60")
3gal grow bags
inside painted flat white
2x 400w hps each over 16"x18" or 6 plants

that sounds awesome. just a whole bunch of single Scrogd plants each in their own habitat

this is great! i have thought alot about different room shapes, just as simple as taking the corners of a typical rectangular room and rounding them or at least making a giant octagon of some kind, reflective on all sides, then some tiered shelves or nft gutters, im sure it would increase light efficency, look cool too. maybe 8 bulb cfl fixtures on the walls, pull the plants in abit and a verticle 1000 in the middle, now lets make the floor rotate at a steady slow rate like a merry go round. :joint:

Thats what i'm getting ready to do, only with 600w lights. I'm legally allowed 6 flowering plants so 1 scrog plant in a 3x3 sq ft area. Every 2 wks harvest one and start another.

Agent-Smith: Tunnels are sick....its amazing how much the little change of rounded corners of a ceiling can make for those buds on the outside walls of a SOG or SCROG. Even addiing a couple piece of aluminum flashing to fillet the corners makes a huge difference. Cant wait to see how yours tunnel turns out, its a shame that you will have to murder males, but I'm sure the females will gladly take over your space and give you a great canopy.

Wait, I'm confused 200watt/sq foot? how are you cooling? Man, I thought I was crazy when I did a grow with a 600 over a 4.5 sqft canopy.

Holy crap, you thought of the merry go round of bud too! That shit would be so sick using 3 sources of light, 2 or more on the outside and 1 on the inside. Inside and outside of a stadium, that is a ton of canopy area for the floorspace involved.

robbiedublu: Perpetual is so perfect when setup along with SCROG to account for veg/screen filling time....I'm really amazed there havent been more people doing it(maybe I just missed them). Good luck on your grow!

Just a little inspiration for the thread: http://www.valcent.net/s/HDVGS.asp Its a greenhouse, but holy shit its a greenhouse. :abduct: check out how they farm algae too.

.

im not gonna lie its a pian in the balls. the way ive designed the closet, it is very free flowing so its just a matter of getting a fan that will cylce the air oftern enough to keep temps down. im still tweaking the setup and due to lack of funds to complete some of the environmental factors(a/c and co2 were planned but not able to be implemented), im finishing up my current grow under 1 400w hps and a bunch of assorted flouros to fill in around the plants since the 1 400 doesnt seem to make the plants on the outsides of the closet happy
