Growroom Design & Equipment

Hey. I need someone who might be interested in helping me design a growroom for my medical purposes.

Please PM me if interested or just post on here obviously.

I want to utilize all the space I have, using equipment I already have + some, while having the best possible environmental control possible, while obviously maintaining proper security with the use of filters, etc.

The dimensions of the room are 12x10.

I want to run SOIL.

Thanks in advanced!

Anyone feel like chiming in?

I was thinking today sealed might be my best bet, so I can save $ on fans and air controllers and I could invest in a co2 controller + co2 instead.

I currently have TWO a/c's (one window unit one portable). rated @ 11,000btu and 18,000btu.

I currently have 3x600w, and obviously need much more.

Anyone wanna help me get the most out of my space and help me with any other further questions dont be scared to pop in!

So the question stands..sealed, or intake/exhaust.

what up phillthy, I am planning a 7x16x8 sealed room very similar to yours except I'm running 4x600 in a single line. Anyways, I wanted to ask what size can filter/fan your running. I noticed its just sitting in the side of your room. I assume that its just scrubbing the room and recirculating the air... not exhausting anything?

I plan to run a sealed room with c02. I'm gonna run air cooled reflectors but not sure how to handle the odor control. Also any info regarding sound proofing would be great too.

thanks bro:joint:

There are so many variables involved you need to fill in more of the details. Not to mention what works for one person might not work for another. Build on what you know already. People here aren't going to all the research work for you. Read through grow diaries that interest you. Use the search button. I read here for over a year before I set up my first grow and it was small.

So in the interest of being productive I have some questions?

Is that space to be used for just flower or is it going to be divided up?
Do you have the budget to run enough ac to seal it off with the right wpsf?
Is there a budget to begin with?
What method (besides soil) that you want to use? SOG, tree etc?
Are you interested in perpetual?
What do you like to smoke, ie strain selection?
Going for quality or quantity?

yep no exhaust. can filter 150 with a can max fan 10 inch recirculating ;)

damn can150 huh... I was thinking of going with a 100. Anyways, How long does a 150 last before needing to change out the carbon. When the carbon in these filter is used up can you replace it with new carbon or do you have to buy a new one?

I read some place that its not as effective if you replace the carbon because of compaction issues.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Hmm, let's start from the beginning:

What do you have for available power, preferably 240V?
What kind of building or room is this?
Is it insulated?
On a slab or have attic space?
Does it have any windows?
What is your budget?
What equipment do you have that you want to re-use?
Do you need both a veg and flower room?

Is that space to be used for just flower or is it going to be divided up? One room, for veg and flower (not perpetual)
Do you have the budget to run enough ac to seal it off with the right wpsf? I have 2 A/C's already. 1 window unit and 1 portable. 11,000 + 18,000 btu.
Is there a budget to begin with? Preferrably under 2500.
What method (besides soil) that you want to use? SOG, tree etc? Small SoG style. Probably 9 plants per hood.
Are you interested in perpetual? not now
Going for quality or quantity? a great mixture. Probably will run Green Crack.

What do you have for available power, preferably 240V? Wire can be accessible to the room. We'll re-wire the entire room straight from the box.
What kind of building or room is this? This is a 10x12 room that used to have a bed in it :)
Is it insulated? insulted everywhere
On a slab or have attic space? no attic space
Does it have any windows? Yes 1 window, where I plan to run wall A/C unit.
What is your budget? About 2500.
What equipment do you have that you want to re-use? 6" Vortex. 3 ballast, 3 hoods, 3 bulbs (all 600w). 11,000 BTU Portable A/C and 18,000 Wall unit.
Do you need both a veg and flower room? no I would like to run the entire room, not perpetual.

Thanks everyone for all the help. I understand that there are variables but im just looking for ideas.

I think I want to run a sealed room, with 3 additional 1000ws, co2, and proper A/C and light cooling. I am debating where to run the ducting in/out of the room for the hoods, and how I am going to allign the hoods.

Does it matter where I place the co2 in the room, as long as it gets recirculated?

Ok the 6" vortex, I'd use it to pull air from your crawl space (cut a hole in the floor the same size as a standard register) and cool the hoods, then blow it out the window over your window AC. Cut a plywood sheet to cover the window, put a foam tape gasket on it to make it tight, then screw it to the window frame or wall. Light proof and secure. Cut a hole for the ac and exhaust vent and you're set there. Use a big scrubber (can 100 or better) with a 10" vortex for the 100, a 12" for a CAN150. Use a speed controller on both fans. 3KW is probably about right, I'd do 3-4 gallon pots or bags of FFOF with a 55g res of AN Sensi nutes, works VERY well in that situation. Aerate the res and hand water initially, then as a future upgrade add tropf blumat auto-waterers. You can probably fit 6 plants under each light as long as they don't get more than 2-3 weeks veg. If they get bigger you'll have to prune them heavily. Yes tanked Co2 would be perfect, placement doesn't matter as long as you don't have a powered exhaust setup.

Hey Lazy man thank you very much for the response.

Where would I place the carbonfilter/big fan if the room is sealed? Are you saying just place a fan/filter at the top of my room to keep air circulating, or are you suggesting that I use the filter/fan for exhaust?

Hey Bterzz,

No I would just use the fan/filter as a scrubber, no ducting, it simply circulates room air (keeping the whole room odor-free) so placement is irrelevant. If you need it to do more, have it suck the air out of your veg room or cabinet and push it through the filter, creating a negative pressure veg room/tent. They usually work well in this combo, and any air leaks are odorless.

Oh and when you need to break down, you can put a new regular register vent in the hole you made in the floor, it will look normal, just won't actually do anything!
