Growing Small

How do I keep plants at about 2 feet from seed through the whole life process.

I was wondering if I grow them in a grow box (big rubbermaid with floros) it would just bush up or will the branches brake from not having enough space

Top it, or tie it down, or FIM it. Don't go to a very large pot. These are some of the ways. I suggest LST (tying it down). It'll branch out and give you mucho bud sites. You can also put it into a SCROG if you'd like. LST is a great way to get the plant ready for a SCROG. Just do a search on LST, SCROG, FIM etc. etc.

And check out the micro grow section like bounty said. Hope this helps.

what happens if i just let them grow and they push up on the box/ floros also if i would put thes seeds straight into 12/12 would i give them flowering nutes or veg nutes

well, if they grow into the flouros, they will burn. If you start on 12/12 you should feed veg nutes for about 20-25 days (or after you see substantial blooms) and then swich to flowering nutes after that.

can you answer my other question about the plant pushing on the box will it start bushing... i thought floros dont burn

if any plant matter directly touches a flouro for any length of time, it will burn. If you want the plant to bush out, just tie it down or top it.

I found that if you give plants more rootspace they will branch out more ..

Space Ghost is indeed right... a plant touching any decent wattage light (even fluoro) for any extended period of time will burn.

I'm growing some plants at the moment (Skunk #1 & True Blueberry) that will be kept under 11 inches tall through their entire life. I started them on 12/12 from seed in SWC hydro buckets with 1/4 strength flower nutrients and have worked my way up slowly to half strenth (5ml per gallon, 10ml per gallon, now 15 ml per gallon) and they seem to be doing just fine. I had a little stretching in the first week or so due to lack of light and it took about 25 for them to grow 7" tall and show sex.

After they showed sex I chucked the males and LST'd the females. LSTing is extremely easy to do and is probably the best way to control height without using clones and ScrOGing in micro growing situations. Simply wrap a pipecleaner around one of the middle to upper nodes of the stem and wrap the other end of the pipecleaner around a loop or tiny shelf mounting bracket attached to your planter or hydro tub. Bend the plant over slightly the first day and each day pull it down a little farther until the main stem of the plant is growing completely horizontal. The main growing tip, budsites, and all the branches will turn to grow upward twords the light. If your growing medium is rather loose and you worry that the plants arn't very well rooted, you can easily secure another pipecleaner around the base of the plant that pulls in the opposite direction from the direction that the plant is being pulled over from. This will make sure that your roots arn't being pulled on and make sure that only the stem is being bent.

When you LST you end up not getting a tall pole like plant you normally would, but instead you get a short and wide little bush of a plant that will yeild much better in low height situations. If your short on vertical space, LSTing is the best (and easiest) thing you can do to keep your plants short and give you a better yeild.

Hope that helps! :D
