Growing in a gun safe your thoughts?

R

I have a Sentry 5-Gun Safe the dimensions are 55"H x 12"W x 11"D I was wondering about growing in it? Would it be possible? I have thought about it was thinking about maybe a 400 watter in there but a problem i came up with would be ventilation considering its a safe thats kinda a problem, is absolutley necesary to vent the air and all? or would it be ok to just keep the air circulating and cool at the same time I would of course to be able to open it and air it out during the day if needed.

Also one more problem would be running electricty in the safe because I wouldnt want cords coming out and not to mention I wouldnt be able to drill a hole in the safe for cords in the first place, but I have heard of somehow getting electricty in them heres a link for an electric outlet for a Browning Safe http://www.browning.com/products/catalog/safes/detail.asp?cat_id=164&type_id=401E&value=004F
I'm not sure how those work anyone know?
So what do you guys say?

good luck on that one. I don't know how you'll get cords or ventilation in there.

why not just build a box that locks?

also back at OG I've seen a grower or two use fridges as cabs. u might want to see how they did it considering they are both thick metal boxes. good luck.

I'd imagine the gun safes designed for that cord came with a slot precut for it's use. As you stated ventilation is going to be your key concern, a 400 watter is going to produce too much heat in that area. Even opening the door and venting it every day won't be sufficient.

Getting holes into the safe would be a toughy, I can't conceivably see myself drilling through my gun safe, and if yours is of higher quality the odds of accomplishing that decrease greatly. Welding might be your only option for that.

Depending on the thickness of the metal you should be able to cut it with a cutting torch. I've worked in fab shops and cut 1 inch plus thick plate before. Got to have the proper equipment but it's possible.

yeah just as i feared I was just considering since I have an empty safe wanted to put it to some use, but too many problems considering I dont want to bother cutting into which would be pretty hard. The only other thing I could think of would perhaps be a fluro not too sure about that tho, but thanks guys. peace.

yup. ^^^^

even fluros in a confined area will produce ample heat to kill a plant you'd have to leave the door open. and if you have to leave the door open it might as well be a card board box
