Growing autoflwering strains in winter?

This may be a stupid question, but I've never grown an autoflowering strain. Can you grow the autoflowering strains in a heated greenhouse in the winter? Thinking of trying some autoflowering strains this winter in my greenhouse. Only get a little over 12 hours daylight here during winter months. But the autoflowering strains do not need specific light schedules. Is the intensity and light spectrum right? Am I wasting my time? I know I keep the temps correct. Can I get away with just sunlight during the winter months ( Nov through Feb) or will I need supplemental lighting? I usaully start my tomato seedlings in the greenhouse in early Jan. and they grow out fine. Planning on starting beans in a week or so if it is possible.

I had a lowryder1 plant in september/oktober at the window. It will work, but result was 2-3 joints, something like that

yes you can grow any strain in your greenhouse during winter, but only an auto will actually flower properly if the days are not 12/12

I know you can grow any strain in the greenhouse. I'm not an idiot and have been growing for over thirty years. My question was about auto flowering plants on a shorter photo period during the winter months in the greenhouse. Also your light spectrum and intensity are different in winter. Will this allow the plants to grow/produce bud. Not worth it if I'm only going to get 2 or 3 joints worth. Most grow these plants indoors on 20/4 or 18/6 photo period. Sunlight is much more intense than any HID bulb, even on the most overcast day. The big difference is photo period and light spectrum. Well anyway, i'm trying to get away with not having to put any supplemental lighting in the greenhouse.

lol....not saying you are an idiot!! if your light hours are a lil over 12/12 mostly any strain will flower...and any proven outdoorstrain will be a good choise!! not sure how long do ya have 12/12 in your area....!
lowrider will work well for sure!!

You will do fine growing autos in your greenhouse. While you might not get the same yield as in summer when the days are longer I would think that 1/2 oz. + per plant is easily attainable from dwarf strains.

Sorry buddah, did not mean to be an AH. I guess I need to smoke a bowl before I answer forum posts in the morning. LOL. I have three autoflowering seed strains that were free from some past seed orders this year. Mostly grow everything indoors but have no room any time soon to try these beans indoors. My indoor grow room is filled with Tora Bora and Violator Kush right now. Did not want to waste these seeds so think I will try in the greenhouse. Maybe I'll do my first grow journal on this site. LOL. The strains I am planning are "Sweet Seeds" Fast Bud and Speed Devil #2, and "Dinafem Seeds" Easyryder (lowrider #2 x auto AK47). As far as how long 12/12; the winter solstice is Dec 21st and times are right at 12/12 here. After that times increase each day til the summer solstice. I usually don't plant my outdoor strains til May to prevent premature flowering.

Thank you Muddy for your answer. 1/2 oz. + is much better than 2 or 3 joints. I know I'm not going to get the summertime yeild but now I feel much better and not wasting these seeds.

VioKush is a great strain...do ya have some lemon/diesel Phenos??

Buddah- Yes, I have a mother plant of the lemon/diesel pheno. It is my favorite and have been growing out clones of this pheno for about 2 years. Tried the Reserva Pravada strain Tora Bora on this grow(clones from a fellow grower). Not nearly as impressive as the Violator Kush. Am thinking about starting some OG Kush and OG Kush#18 from seed for my next grow/already have the seeds. I mostly grow clones from my mother plants/trade with other growers for thier clones. Violator Kush is perfect for what I use it for ie sleep disorder/insomnia.
I have never grown any of these autoflowering strains so this is new to me.
