Growbox venting question

Hello everyone. I have a 2' x 3' x 4'H box of 1/2 plywood with a 12" x 3" passive intake on one of the walls near the bottom. It runs a 250 HPS thru a cooltube and has a 4" Canfan, around 170 CFM. The ballast is homemade and hangs in a metal box (7" square) from the ceiling. Also, there is a homemade carbon filter, courtesty of DurbanPoison's DYI :joint: All of this stuff is hanging from the top of the grow box with bungees or wire and all the parts can be connected by 4" flex aluminum hose.

Would it be ok for the air flow to go like this --> Pulled thru the scrubber by the fan, thru the ballast box to cool it, thru the cooltube, and finally exhaust the scrubbed hot air?

Venting the cooltube seperately would be extremely difficult due to space restrictions.

Not conventional, but hey. I'm thinking it won't get too hot in the growbox because cool air is constantly being pulled through teh passive intake, passed over the hot components, and then blown out. All connections are sealed with duck tape to prevent the sweet sweet smells from getting in the components and blown out. But i havnt done this before and don't know for sure if it will keep the box less than 85 degrees. Ambient temp is 72.

What do you think?

I would pull it the opposite way, just because Id be afraid of smell the way you're saying..

The smell should be taken care of by the carbon, as that's what touches the air first. Then that scrubbed air goes through the ballast, then through the cooltube, and then out of the box...so odor shouldn't be a problem. I'm trying to figure out if this will get too hot.

Anyone else? Thanks in advance!

Update...this setup works great! I highly recommend it. Temps are never higher than 8 degrees F above the room with the variac set to only 60 volts! That leaves plenty room to increase the fan power if such a need arises.
