grow tents and carbon monoxide?

ok.. so I have been using the heat from my lights in my tents.. pulling through air cooled hoods.. and recirculating into the house..

since I did this.. I have been being awaken by a fire alarm.. but no smoke or fire.. but maybe carbon monoxide as it is a carbon monoxide alarm also.. so ..

what do you guys think.. ive changed batteries.. and I don't have anything in the house running on gas or propane or anything along those lines.. all electric everything..

should I be worried or? what should I be checking for.. I'm running out to get a carbon monoxide meter to see if this is going to be a problem.

I really believe something else is going on.. but who knows.. lol. I never heard of anything creating CO unless it was using a fuel to burn ... but who knows maybe I'm retarded. wouldn't doubt it at this point.

High humidity causes my alarms to go off when I brown/fry something at high temperature. Or whenever my wife cooks anything, but that is a different issue together.
Also working as a trim carpenter,on humid days, the first cut or two with a mitre box will usually set the alarm off.
High humidity seems to make modern smoke alarms too sensitive.

Could be a cheap sensor in that CO alarm that doen't have a good CO selectivity and will also go off on CO2.

the better new fire alarms use a photocells now to detect smoke some how... thats probably why the guy above sets them off with his saw. do they work better than radioactive fire alarms? idk.

but far as i know carbon monoxide sensors havent changed a whole lot. do you have gas heat or a boiler in your building... or gas appliances at all?

you MIGHT want to pick up some carbon monoxide test vacuum tubes to double check nothing is wrong. id keep them around untill the alarm goes off again then pop it open and see if it reads any carbon monoxide. you want a sensitive tube... 1 ppm at least.

these are what im talking about. you can get them eveywhere.

nah man nothing in the house.. single family house.. house fully electric.. just started happening when I reworked the ducting.. I figured its nothing. but I wanted to make sure I haven't like completely missed something about CO .. along the way. lol I know we need CO2.. but CO is a dangerous beast

Is your intake for lights anywhere near where you park a vehicle?

Seems like a longshot but thought I'd put in 2p.

got any hydrocarbon residew inside the house? oily rags... fresh paint, laquer, or paint thinner? perhaps these can set off the carbon monoxide alarm.

did you even confirm this is a carbon monoxide alarm btw?

i would just replace the offending alarm. they are like 30 bucks. if it keeps happening id be concerned.

I'd put it near the intake outlet then near the exhaust outlet. At least that way you know if it's even related to the grow activities..
I've had CO sensors go off even from using cleaning products near them.

3 separate alarms.. all in basement.. all going off.. saying.. warning carbon monoxide.. warning carbon monoxide.. lol. changed batteries.. took some from upstairs.. brought downstairs.. and they go off also.

might be going from super low humidity to higher.. but iuno.. I'm trying to figure it out..

these might be networked fire alarms? check out the base flange of the alarm where the alarm body mates. look for a jbox under this flange and look for some romex cable.

are they going off all at once? if not then they are probably not networked.

if these are not networked alarms, buy a CO test tube immediatly for confirmation.

you think it could be confusing Co2 with CO?

no. co and co2 are usually detected with different sensors.
the co sensors are these cheap simple electromechanical things. the sensors they use for co2 is some sort of IR diffusion sensor. i bought one a while back to fuck around with from honeywell... its gold plated and everything. co2 sensors are far more substantially engineered than co sensors.

carbon monoxide is very reactive. its similar to acetylene ... it releases lots of heat and light in the proper lamp.

back in the 1800's coal gas was piped into peoples home for heating and lighting and cooking. coal gas was like 50% carbon monoxide.

when you hear jokes about people putting their heads inside a stove, this is why.

ya I'm not worried about it. had a buddy who is a firefighter come by.. and take a look.. had a co2 and a carbon monoxide meter thingy with him.. so I'm thinking we are allset
