Grow Tent setup

Ok, I plan on running a 3x3 flood and drain table using the sea of green method. Will be getting a grow tent to make everything enclosed and keep light/odors manageable. I plan to run a 600 watt HPS over the 3x3 table. All plants will be grown at once, harvested, then a new batch of cuttings put in. I plan to do maybe 1 week or no veg time to keep them small and crank out in a quicker time. I will keep moms of the 2-3 strains I am growing at all times and clone them when needed. The moms will have their own smaller tent.

My question is that I am thinking about using a cool tube on the 600 watt. I already have my inline fan which is decently powerful. I think around 250-300 cfm. Can I leave one end of the cool tube open and suck air through for ventilation as well as keep the light cool? Also, where will my carbon scrubber and fan go in the setup. Obviously the air goes through the cool tube first, but then should it be ducting to the fan to the carbon scrubber or what? Basically want to know the order they should go in for the best ventilation. I will be simply ventilating into the attic and it should be possible to put the fan up there if thats the route I need to go. I was also wondering how big a mom area I would need.

Sure.

I'm gonna guess you suck. And I mean that in a good way. :wave:

If your filter draws air like a straw, it can go after the tube. Tube/filter/fan. If it draws air through the sides, it has to go before the tube. Filter/tube/fan. One, because that's the only way it hooks up; Two, if you could hook it up between tube and fan, air would go through the filter, not the tube.

If you have to push, fan/tube/exhaust vent/filter on the outside of cab will work.

Which would be better? To push or pull the air through? I would think that the first setup sounded good. Tube/filter/fan. My filter will be a can filter. Thats the "Straw" type correct?

Thanks for the help

Hey, I hate to thread hyjack, but I'm pondering almost the same issue. I am going to be running a 1kw HPS w/ a cooltube... would
Open duct->cooltube->filter->fan->Exhaust vent
Work fine with an active intake... I'm thinking keeping the intake CFM 2x the exhaust would cool the box, and I would wall mount a fan for circulation... thoughts?

Do you mean one of these?

Then your answer is NO. They are shaped like straws but, draw through the sides. Note the flange for attaching a SINGLE hose. The other end is capped. The only way to connect it to BOTH hood and fan is as an end unit. Which end is up to you.

Here's a DIY Can Filter so you can see how they're built and how they work. http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=29402

Better to pull than to push.

Thanks guys. I think I need to have a separate smaller fan to cool the light and have a separate exhaust fan. Since I am using a tent should I simply vent the cooltube air into the attic or is it ok for it to be vented into the same room as the tent? I am thinking the attic because the intake draws from air in the room and I would rather it be cooler.

Why the cool tube and not a air cooled hood? The light footprint from cooltubes is crap. I have a space 39x39 with 600 right now...next run will have another of the same hood right next to it for a total 1200 watts, the 600 is not enough imo.

Here is a older pic to give you a idea...the other end of the hood is now connected to a carbon filter.

Because I can get the cool tube from someone local for cheap. Thanks for the help everyone. Any other answers or opinions on this?
