I'm looking at this portable zip up closet available at Lowes for 29.88 and thinking about purchasing it, lining it up with Mylar plastic, and using it for my grow. A few questions.

1. Is it worth trying?

2. at 63"H x 60"W x20"D, what would be the best way to maximize production? Would 1 1k HPS work? Or should I go with 2 400W HPS? I have a legal limit of 24 immature plants or 12 mature plants at any given time and want to set up a perpetual grow so I don't want to run out of medicine.

Thanks in advance guys! I'm an novice outdoor grower just trying to learn to become a novice indoor grower!

I'd at least read up on the HydroHut fiasco first. Hydrohuts have been killing off plants left and right and they're designed for growing. Who knows what kind of off gassing could happen in a tent NOT designed for growing. The tent may only be $30 but what about the cost of seeds, time and nutes?

What I’ve heard about the Hydrohut problem is that its due to the plastic lining. I’ll be using the frame from the Lowe’s closet with mylar plastic from the hydro store which was made especially for grow rooms. This closet seems to be made from one of two things: metal or pvc type plastic. Many people make little greenhouses with PVC pipe so I don’t think that will be a problem. I’ve also seen growers make their indoor tents with PVC. My mom has a zip up closet like this and it’s made of metal. As far as I know, metal shouldn’t be any problem in a grow room.

There doesn’t seem to be much risk in using something not made to be a grow room as a grow room. Isn’t that what growing is about?

any frame will do including the one that you posted a link to. get yourself some black and white panda film and some duct tape and you've got yourself a grow.
