Grow Tent from HTG supply

Anyone have any info on the grow tents from HTG supply on E-bay? I was thinking about getting the smallest one 20" x 36" X 64". I have heard that the top is a bit flimsy. Any light leaks? Overall would you reccomend it? I plan on running a 400hps digital. Any help would be greatly appreciate!!

You can use toolhaus.org to search for an ebay member's negative feedback only. Im sure if anyone had an issue with their tent the info would be there.

frame is super flimsy on the HTG tents........
(to the point where id recommend getting steel bar from local shoppes.)

but
thats the only problem ive encountered with em.
light proof/water tight bottom/ and zippers work fine.
plenty of air openings for my situations......
and keeps ambient temps inside stable.

if you plan on hanging anything more than a reflector and light...
stiffening is needed.

ive got the 4x4x8' (XL i think)
with a 600w glass covered reflector, a 6' vortex and a can66.
it bends the frame severely. i had to stiffen the frame and even place the tent up against a wall to keep its shape and keep it stable and standing upright. a PITA (Pain In The A$$) but not as bad as im making it sound.

.....it just should be assumed a user of the tent is actually going to hang WEIGHT on the frame......

if you havent the need to hang alot of weight.....AS IS will be fine.
but stiffening is needed for added equipment, if using the flimsy frame of the tent as support.
i have it 'engineered' right now to work, but its ugly as hell and im anal about these kinds of things so after its emptied, off to the local hardware conglomerate to purchase STEEL bars (of same size, of course) and substitute these in for the top 4 pieces that come with the kit, for they are just too flimsy for my liking.

other than that they perform well for the money.
even after the stiffening and aftermarket approach to the fix, im still glad i got it.

two options:
pay a lil more up front for the 'top shelf' models that COME WITH stronger frames or save a few bucks and stiffen the cheaper frame yourself with materiales at the home or locale shoppes. for some, the latter IS a better option.

hope that was SOME help to ya and im sure others with first hand expereince with these will chime in as well.

Made of PVC tubing are they? Must be how they make them so cheap. Buying them from the Chinese on alibaba would cost about $200 for one tent. 3/4's of that is the shipping cost for the STEEL frame.

I would say stay away from any pvc frame although peeps are having trouble with hydrohut brands steel poles.....i guess its messin up the plants somehow. I have a 3x3x7 hydrohut and love it(steel frame)......i also have a 3x3x7 homebox and it has a pvc frame.....like hub said...if your going to hang anything of weight.....you're going to modify it a bit........gl friend

Thanks for all the info guys.....I planned on hanging my reflector on there, but I thnink I miight just get the 4x2 HH, or make a cab with something from the Depot or Lowes. I have heard about the poles of the HH, but supossely you can wipe them down with a mild bleach solution. Won't be getting abything for a few more weeks, so i guess i have time to shop and compare

I still haven't found a place in the US that carries the Budbox, which seems to be the better grow tent around right now. If anybody knows of a place to get one please let us know?

pipes are NOT PVC in the HTG tents.
its aluminum pipes. NOT PVC.

still not strong enough for a good amt of weight.
again, anything other than a light and reflector it'll need stiffening, imo.

i'm about to order the 36"X18"X64". only thing i'm hanging is a reflector for my 250W HPS. gonna use a remote ballast. only other thing on it will be a 4" exhaust fan. no scrubbers or ducts...for $150, EVEN IF stiffening is required, i'm kinda ok with that...compared to some other tent prices.

The Secret Jardin grow boxes look really good....Anyone have these? I did a search on here for those, and only good things were said..............

Vin Did you get that box yet from HTG? How is the heat issue with a 250..... Would you reccomend that specific model from htg

seems to me you would be better off building your own, to the exact specs and strength you need and for cheaper most likely.

unfortunatly, my living arrangements don't allow my to build anything(especially if i need a quick teardown) nor am I that handy with tools

once you factor in things like cost of materials, time spent finding those materials, and the labor put into building the box the price of a good grow tent (200$-250$) is well worth it, plus you cant make a box out of wood that looks as good as one of these tents both ascetically and stealthily, also to add all of these tents can easily be torn down in a matter of hours and then moved to another location with little trouble which is something you cant do will an all wood box.

got the HTG and love it other than hearing some BS about tents in general causing yellowing. i think tent success stories outway the negatives. i'm relying on good air movement and ventilation to prevent any problems...just what i'm telling myself to make me feel better. i seen alot of nice grows in tents, and i think most tents are pretty much same white inside material. i think HTG tants made in USA but unsure...anyone know?
