What do YOU look for when spot hunting....?
Whats the best spot you ever found.......?
Do you grow at spot more than once...?

I will be experimenting with outdoors for the first time this season.. Im an indoor DWC type a guy... :) But the yeild indoors cant compare to outdoors, so im in.
I happen to find a great spot on a long dirt path that leads to a dead end. no houses builings nothing.. just a big lake and trees..... I go back in the woods about 200-300 feet and what do I find, a lil pond with hills around it....
not far from there is where Ill break ground in different spots..

Its gonna be a fun summer...

What you gonna grow?

I'm hoping Female Seeds would do a mega seed pack of a mix.. That would be nice..

Other than that it will soon be time to start a clonin :joint:

I have REZ- Wonder Haze, and FireCracker., But the fire cracker is sooo dense and fat, I cant grow that out doors due to mold issues....

Hey man I've done an outdoor grow or two before im not saying im an expert at it but if your spot is anywhere near a path thats bad juju that means that other people have been there and will possibly be bastards and steal your hard work or ever worse rat out your grow

Grow site selection for dummies.

First you look around you. Do you live in a city? Tough luck, try another hobby.

Do you have access to remote areas of land? If you can drive less then half a day and find that special place, you have a chance.

The successful outdoor grows do not happen in your back yard. They happen when you have mastered all the concerns with what? where? who? are handled. That usually takes the form of a good Women covering your butt. ;)

Lakes and forests at the end of roads, attract anglers, hunters, berry and mushroom pickers.

I try to choose areas that are difficult to access. The harder it is to get to your location, the safer your plants are. It seems a casual hike through the thick stuff, just isn't good enough anymore.

When you find a suitable location remember to spread your plants out. A few plants in several locations will ensure you harvest something, if any one of your locations is compromised.

good luck

I try to find spots that are very secluded.....Deep in the bush. The best spots are on a side hill facing south. The reason for this is i`m in a area of the world that gets frost in mid to late September..........and since hot air rises and cold air drops........the side of a hill is perfect for me. The helicopters around here check the tops of hills and all the valleys. I use a GPS so i can approach the site from any angle..............and if you have to vacate the area, the gps will never lead you astray!

It depends, how strong a stench, what terrain, etc.
I would like to be at least 500 yards/meters from any trail,
and that's with very heavy cover.
Come into the grow zone a different way each time if you can.
Scope the area prior to entry as well.

Take Care, Stay Safe....................doc

Some of my best old outdoor grows were in and along the edge of a swamp.

If you can get to your grow area easily then others will too...the best time to check out areas are in the fall...then you can prepare the ground ahead of time...in the spring there's too many treehuggers out and about..good luck...stay safe..

Actually for some of us the backyard has been very very good :) I was a gorilla grower for years :badday: .... nothing like a good back yard grow to renew your faith in the great outdoors :)
dont overlook the obvious ... sometimes right in your own backyard can be the safest place around :)

my trip to my plots consist of a mile hike down the rail road tracks, down a big ass hill that is very steep and 1 wrong step could lead you to fallin all the way to the bottom and not being found :( , then you get to either have a canoe or man it up and walk down the river some ways and into the woods then a big ass zig zag thru the trees and finally a belly crawl thru the thorns and other unfriendly stuff and wha la when your there the journey was worth all of it :)

oh yea i learned the hard way last year that growing in ones backyard or close to your home isnt a very good idea as my plants where getting ripped off but i caught the guy red handed and knocked em over the head with a log, now to think if you caught the guy and after you knock em out in ur backyard what are you gonna tell the cops if he calls em after a long sleep ;)

Got to keep reminding myself, posting after an night of drinking is never a good idea.

I grow in my yard, but that sure limits my options for deniability when confronted by LEO. A confrontation with thieves could be even worse.

I use remote sites during the Summer, only the early finishing strains are suitable because of early freezing. I can only count on September to finish.

Wetlands, swamps and flood plains are first choice. You need to gain a feel for the action of the water, some years it will flood, others it will be dry.

I like the camouflage of a newly regrown pine forest. Ten years after fire, disease or logging, the new trees are a good colour and shape match for Cannabis. It's easy to loose them if you don't use GPS. ;)

High elevations are poor choices because of early frost damage. It's heart breaking to see them doing great through the Summer, just to freeze solid in early September.

yes sir back pack it all, usually in my back pack is a hatchet, lighter, stuff to start a fire, some food and a survival knife, a cell phone, some rope, 2 headlights (flash lights) and other various stuff just incase me and or my mate take a fall and have to make a splint ( good thing i joined the boy scouts as a kid ) and whatever else i think will be needed

yes i hand water the plants from the river and the back pack makes a good way to carry all the water as i do it with jugs that are scattered around in the woods well hidden and sometimes i forget where i put them and have to back track looking for them

Do you all avoid planting on private land? Why? How often do you check up on your plants? I'm starting my first outdoor grow this spring this thread is very useful to me, keep the suggestions coming!
