Grow Shed - 400w Hps - Cheese, Grapefruit & WW

Hey all welcome to my new setup, The Grow Shed wink.gif

You have probably seen i was doing a small stealth speaker grow with some grapefruit, but i got some cash the other day and invested in a new hps light and asked a mate to grow in his shed. So ill be stopping the stealth speaker grow and move the grapefruit into the shed smile.gif

I am using a small section of the shed to grow my plants, i cant use the whole shed as there is alot of things in storage in the shed, and theres no where else they can go.

We have about 1m wide and 3m high of growing space, I have covered the inside with tin foil the non shiny side to reflect all the light.

Ive got my 400w hps connected to a nice hanging kit i got off ebay for a tenner, so i can move the light up and down at any time with ease.

So i have my 2 grapefruit that have been vegging for 14days now under the 125w cfl im moving these to the shed. I will be germing 4 cheese seeds today and 4 white widow when i buy them on tuesday.

Hey guys little update for you all, the plants went into the shed for the first time, and as i expected the leafs have started to curl. But thats only because there is no ventalation at all :( i will install a large fan in there today and buy another fan off ebay this week.

Heres some more pics, keep the advice coming as this is my first grow :)

Cool. nice start.

IMHO: i would.. .take down the tinfoil... it reality it does a poor job at reflecting light, and a better job at reflecting heat...you could spray paint carboard with flat white as cheap substitute.. (flat white reflects 85-90% of all light). Also i would leave them under the flouros untill you have some ventilation (not just circulation) going... or you will risk frying your babies. Seedlings are very fragile and cant handle alot of the stress a more established mature plant could.

take care

Roger... to properly vent a 400HPS you are goin to need an exhaust fan mounted to the shed. See... the intake air, im guessin, is being pulled in from directly outdoors... this air is goin to be Hot... dependin on your location, and so will not effectively cool down your grow space.

If you see TK around ask him about his grow shed... durrin the summer he occasionally has some heat issues... even with proper ventilation.

I think Talkweed is Uk, so heat, while still an issue for a short while aint as as bad as for u guys across the pond!

Talkweed, so....You mean BBC when you say Cheese then??
good luck with the shed, im sticking a cheese clone out this week ( THE cheese clone) ....some luck and a bit of care and we'll both be mashed lol.

very nice set up ....as BT said heat will be an issue that 400 looks like an enclosed ballats to the light, that will throw off a ton of heat i have a 150 like that and it does the same, the only other issue that pops out are light leaks looks like you should get out a caulk gun and get those taken care of you would'nt want the neihbors wonderering why you've got lights on in the shed around dusk or very early in the morning depending on your light schedule make sure you have the roof sealed good also would.nt want any water dripping on that light either ..........

keep it green ...Buzzerd

Yeah im from the uk and its not very often we have hot weather, i mean these are the first few really hot days this year. Ive installed a house hold fan and made a few vent holes.

Nah its no big buddha cheese, the guy says in the real cheese in seed form, i very much doubt it, ill grow it any see anyway.

Did someone say Cheese?
hehe remember that old thread that got a bit out of hand and everyone started posting cheese? hehe this reminded me of that, totally off topic sorry mate.

Good luck on your grow, the strains sound good :canabis:

So do I - there was only ever 1 real cheese seed - however I have grown out over 50 1st BX and they were all good - although none were as smelly or as strong as the original cheese clone - so somthing good should come out of your seeds (if they are a cheese back cross)

good luck with your temps - all of us UK growers have been having problems over the last few days - nothing I can suggest except a big extractor fan with a carbon filter - but that comes out quite expensive and won't save your plants today -

if the garden that the shed is in is not too exposed you could bring your plants out into the sun - not ideal 'cause outside is where the RSM and other pests live - but it would keep your plants alive till the weather gets better

Good luck

1st thing ya need to do is make sure your lights on time is when the sun is not at its strongest......mine comes on at 8pm at the moment and it seems to be keeping a consistant reasonable temp..........also if ya dont have the money for a grow specififc extractor get to B&Q and get a cheap bathroom extractor, £30 maybe and it will be more than suitable for your space.....i am using 2 x 400w in a 6x4 shed with a bathroom extractor and tower fan, the cold in winter and humidity will end up being your biggest problems, i had to buy a small dehumidifier.
Anyway you are in the right place here, plenty of good advice form the best people around.......quite a few uk peeps here too.
Peace
