Grow Room Question

Well I have a nice size space to set up my box, the only thing im limited on is the width of the space. The space is about 5ftx7ftx1ft, has anyone used styrofoam insulation for the walls? Wondering if that will be a problem. And I have sunleaves to lace the walls with if its needed. For the light I have a 400w hps setup that I picked up from insidesun. I was going to get a cool tube with a fan for ventilation and I have the desk fan for circulation. Curious to know what you guys think, will it work?

I've used styrofoam, but since you are so limited on space, you might consider Reflectix. It's great for grow spaces. It's thinner than foam (about 1/4") and the mylar coating on the outside is a good reflector for light. It comes in 48" and 24" wide rolls and you can staple it directly to the walls.

I recommend putting a layer of plastic between the insulation & wall to act as a moisture barrier.

With a space only 1' deep, you might have a problem with the heat from an HPS. Also, your canopy would be so small that your yields might suffer.

Consider using fluoros - mount 4' lights on one wall and "trellis" the plants up the opposite wall - kind of a vertical SCROG.

right on cat lady!

right on cat lady!

mylar or white paint for reflective, i suggest using a sealant on the walls if they are raw/unfinished and then painting with a nice plain old white paint, some like glossy, some like flat, i'd get whatever is cheapest.

Cooltube is a must

I recently got 2 400 watt HPS with MH conversion bulbs from Insidesun, but I'm having issues about the MH bulbs. One dosent even screw in far enough to make connection.

Never done it, but if it were me, I would try and train those plants like a grape vine with that narrow ass space. Building a real wall isnt that hard BTW. The foam idea just seems cheesey to me.

Having styrofoam around a heat source would make me real nervous!! :bat: :yoinks:
