Grow room floors?

Hi, I'm thinking of doing an indoor grow. I want to use a room, like an 8x8. So, I got carpet, white walls and a window. I'm up to speed about lights and fans, temps, but what about floors and walls, I heard to bleach walls. Can bugs hide in carpet, what if I used a tarp over the carpet? Is cardboard OK for blocking window light. Any feedback would be cool. Thanks

ive always removed carpet in any room i grow in, as moisture and carpets dont mix.

and yes cardboard is fine to block light out, i have a cardboard box covering my windows lol

Or panda plastic over the walls and carpet. If the carpet is worth saving, plastic over it taping it down all the way around, like sealing it off. Just be careful panda can be slick when wearing only socks lol

Pond liner on the floor. They are super thick, and will prevent the carpet from getting ruined..

Cardboard would be good for the windows, but I would suggest doing black plastic over the cardboard. Then if you do use cardboard. Leave the curtains/blinds in place and put cardboard/plastic behind them. So it stii looks like a normal window from the outside.

Do you have bugs/pests now? If you have clean plants I wouldn't worry much about the carpet harboring pests. Unless you already have them. Then yes, ditch the carpet, and bleach the shit out of everything. Wait a couple days, and then bleach again.

If you have pests, clean everything. Light fixtures, cords, walls, ceiling, timers, plant containers, trellis(or get a new one). If you pull the carpet, get it as far away from the grow as possible. if burning it is an option, that's what I would do.

Make sure all intake's have filters on them to stop pests from getting in. Seal all cracks and crevises, and use weather stripping on the door to make it air tight. That clear weather proof silicone caulking works great at filling in crack and crevices .

But yeah for the floor I would recommend pond liner over black and white poly. They are a lot thicker/stronger and will last a lot longer without needing to be replaced, or tearing like poly will.

These are all advise from previous experiences/ experiments in my own set-ups. All the above posts are solid advice. Just offering my 2 cents from my own experiences.

I use plastic tarps for the floor. They are cheap and fold up easily so that you can take them with you when you are done.

Pond Liner holds up. I'm on my 10th year with mine. Never had the problem, but if you drop scissors and they land points down, all you have to do is use a cheap flat fixing kit, like from a bicycle shop. Great stuff. -granger

pond liner will work fine also good advice about putting curtains up i made that mistake in my garage now i have to redo it put blinds with plywood over the windows then orca over everything else
