Grow room "canopy" area?

Im needing some help trying to figure out the "canopy" area of my upcoming grow... Room will ve 16ftx9ft. I read 4 square foot per plant [which i think is a 2ftX2ft area??]

Could anyone help me out? Looking for the "4sq ft per plant" with 18 plants in relation to my total grow room. Is it easy as 4x18? Sorry if its a super dumb question. Trying to get canopy area so i can figure out my watts per sq ft area. 4x1000 watt hps lights.

Yes 4x18 = 72 square feet.

4000 watts /72 = 55 watts per square foot.

If you have DE 1000s you might light a 5x4 or 5x5 footprint with each one if you have ceiling height.

I'd go with 4 lights in a row with a decent aisle space on both sides.

A 16 ft x 9 ft room is 144 sq ft total.

4 sq ft per plant x 18 plants = 72 sq ft canopy area.

4000 watts / 72 sq ft = 56 watts per sq ft.

Thanka both! I just wasnt trusting my math lol!! Single ended 1ks is what I have. I know it calls for 55 to 70 and over 75 being over saturated. Is 55 enough? Should i look into possibly taking a couple plants out to maximize closer to 70?
