Grow redesign help

I'm making the switch from plastic pots over to fabric. I'm thinking I need something underneath the bags to catch any run-off and to keep them up off of the floor so air can get to the bottom also. I was thinking of a frame with wire mesh to sit the bags on top and slide drip pans in and out under the frame. What kind of designs have y'all employed in your grow rooms (those of you who use fabric pots)?

Looking forward to see what answers/solutions you receive. I was trying to figure this out myself a couple of weeks ago. Never did come up with something simple and inexpensive that my lack of carpentry skills could handle.

Currently using kitty litter pans with the 2 gal fabric pots sitting on pieces of 2x4s to keep them out of the runoff. I occasionally use a shop vac to suck the runoff out.....although it does seem to evaporate fairly quickly.

Hope you find a good solution!:tiphat:

I just have the fabric pots sitting in a tray http://www.botanicare.com/Botanicare-1x4-LT-Tray-Black-P199C7.aspx

They make saucers with a plastic base that hold the pot up. Just helped a buddy do his room with them 10 gallon smart pots. A cool thing is you can rotate them 360. Got them in Colorado.

eh.

how about this...

lay 2x4 beams on top of conc. deck blocks...

staple sagging poly onto these beams sloping toward a collection trough then to a sump.

the above image is of a very expensive deck rain diversion system... it uses some super fancy thick material, but you could get by with just poly... u have no need of 20 year life span and no UV light resistance presumably.

you need to sag the poly at like 1:12 slope such that you maintain positive drainage along its length.

the runoff would be collected in a sloped trough spanning all of the poly... then dump into a sump.

on top of the beams you would nail down some cheap 1x2 lathe to support the containers.
