Grow light keeps flicking on and off

Hey guys,

Came home tonight to find my 250 W growlight was not on. I restarted it and it started up just fine. Came by a few minutes later to find it off again!

I am wondering if there isn't something wrong with my ballast? It seems to be staying on for quite some time, several minutes, and then shutting off.

Removed my dangerous suggestion... nothing repairable on a digital short of the power cords

Both the bulb and ballast are very new - less than 4 months old. The ballast is one of those fancy pants Lumatek jobs. I may just take this opportunity to buy a 400W system...

Check your timer ,if you have a volt tester when the light goes off see if its still working

The timer isn't an issue because it's driving both the ballast and the fan, which continues to run when the light goes off.

All of this being said, I haven't seen the light blink out at all this morning. Weird.

You may have a defective ballast, or the ballast is in an area with restricted airflow. Perhaps the ballast has a circuit that shuts it down if it gets too hot? Check with your dealer, or the (fancy pants) Lumatek website, to see if this is the case.
Try a different bulb and/or ballast

Take it back to where ya got it, exchange it for non fancy pants model, lol. Good luck. Its your opportunity to step up to the 400 as you say. My shop takes things back, ESPECIALLY fancy pants models known to take a fancy crap. They got a pile of them in fact.

Same problem

Same problem

I used to have the same problem a while back in another place. 3 floors of living were nearly all connected to one box. My ballast was on a outlet i thought i was only on. It happened to be that the other floors were also using my same link to the breaker. When they would run something and the spike hit the line my lamp would go off and come back down maybe a minute or two later.

We had my whole floor rewired to its own lines on the breaker and everything worked perfect from that point. Put the ballast in other grow ops, in which i knew what else was running on the line and it works flawlessly.
