Grow Bed, Soil Bed - Looking for design

I'm looking for a design for raised soil beds on casters. I'm trying to figure out a good way to get good drainage in the beds, so water doesnt' pool up and go stagnant. Also looking for what to put in the beds in order to keep the wood from rotting/getting wet....

or get 2x3 concrete trays and expand in a modular fashion. Just set them on a table made of 2x4s and 4x4 legs (on casters) with either just the framed top or a plywood table

ah, that pondliner stuff looks like it would be GREAT to line the wooden beds with, so they don't get wet...now you can just plug it up with a pvc plug, so the wood stays dry.

WICKED!!

i like to double line my beds...first layer is pond liner that stays in place...the next layer is cheaper thinner painting plastic...leave this layer a little large so you can use it to "pull" up the bed when your run is done..i also put down a layer of perlite in the bottom...btw if ya wet the perlite in the bag it is way less dusty...

now i will tell you how to do it cheaper and quicker.

1.---- go to home dePot,

2.---- purchase Rubbermaid 54gallon XL storage tubs, as many as you need to fill your space (they are approx 20x42inches x14 inches deep) $13 per tub

3.--- purchase casters and boards, and assemble a flat rolling surface for the tubs to sit on cost: <$50

4. drill holes in the bottom of the tubs for drainage, flip the lids upside down and put the tub on top of the lid to hold the waste water, (custom-fit drip tray)

5. fill the bottom 6 inches of the tubs with styrofoam peanuts for drainage (cheaper and lighter than rocks, and reusable.) $7 for 3 cu. ft. at UPS store

6. fill the rest with your soil mix

7. plant the tubs as you would a soil bed, i do 3 rows of 5 plants, and average about 1/2 lb from each tub.

ideal setup: individual 2x3.5' rolling platform for each tub

see my setup in my sig if u want
